Please excuse my ignorance but as I drive daily, I see so many older Chevys and Fords with the front wheels lifted so high they look like frogs. I have no idea why this is but I can say I've never seen a tundra like this. Some of them are decked out like prerunners as well. I've always wondered about this but just too embarrassed to ask. Wondering what the practical purpose of this is? :tinfoilhat:

Don't confuse the "squat truck" look with the "prerunner" (hate that term) look. Ive never even seen a "squat truck" here in California. I had never heard about it until I read it on this forum. Apparently its an east coast thing.

Yes the prerunner look is popular here. But typically its only about an inch higher in the front. The look comes from the natural suspension set up that an actual desert race truck has when it is using linked and long travel suspension. Of course it can evolve into other set ups with the big rim and offset trucks.

Personally I like my trucks to sit level or slightly higher in the front. I do not like the rear higher. Most people are the opposite and that's fine. I grew up as a desert racing fan and that's kinda the thing. But desert racing is not popular because its limited to the deserts in Southern California and Mexico for the most part.

With a prerunner, it's proper. Rear travel is typically longer than front. Helps landings. Most road going examples though are pretty garbage. Not sure why people do this. I kind of understand and marginally accept stance, but this... this is a whole different bullshit.

    There's a difference between this:

I saw a couple of trucks last spring in Myrtle Beach, SC with the front ends way up in the air. I can't figure out how the driver can see what's in front of him with the truck like that. I can't think of any reason for it. It is not practical for any kind of driving I am aware of, and it is not attractive. :notsure:

The tires on the right go hand in hand with the red truck.

I've ridden in one. You can't see shit. You see sky at all times. Occasionally you can see a little roof line of the vehicle in front; if it's big enough. The one i was in wasn't even that egregious. He was stopping like 50 feet behind stuff. I was scared for my life.

Now you've seen a tundra with the bro lean :)

(I've since fixed it, but I had only installed the front lift when I took the picture)

I only classify a truck as a prerunner if its qualified to go offroad. I see too many trucks here in SoCal that have the prerunner look that're headed straight to the graveyard if they hit the dirt. Non qualified vehicles = squat truck.

It's referred to over here on the east coast as "Carolina Squat". Legislators in SC are actually trying to put a bill through limiting / eliminating this stupid redneck bullshit, because due to the angle, it's blinding people (turning low beams into high beams). People who set this up are filthy animals who never disengaged from their momma's teets. If I ever see a Tundra like this, I'll kill myself.

The bro lean is there to look like the fast racing trucks. The difference is that they are slamming on the gas. Bro’s are just killing their headlight usage.

I used to ride nose up. Then i became an adult and leveled the truck.

We're you wondering about trucks like the first picture or second? Because the explanation was only provided for one of these.

More like the first pic and I definitely received my answer. Obviously, the ridiculous stance is one of preference while the slight upward rake of a "real" prerunner type of truck is more for functionality. I just thought of how absurd these trucks look and couldn't come to terms that that is something someone would purposely do ... but alas to each their own.
