Got this warning today...

Anyone else ever receive this warning message?
It went away after a restart. I wasn't towing and just noticed it after i parked in a parking stall. I haven't spliced into any wiring harnesses or fuse off the brakes or trailer either. Was kind of wondering why I would get that message and also the traction control off light?

 

Happened once to me. Dont know why. Was backing into parking space with brick wall beside me on passenger side. Once parked i restarted the truck and it went away. Was a 2017 SR5 at the time. Only tine it ever did it.

 

Check brake controller connecton behind the dash. This is a known problem and with some searching you can find the thread on here...

I had this error 1000 miles out of warranty. Had only towed a light utility trailer. Dealer said it was break controller something or others, $200 to repair. I pitched a fit and Toyota covered it.

 

Yeah I’m coming up n 36k. I’ll go through it and make a list for warranty.

 

Mine did it, and when I talked to
The dealership they told me that it’s a known issue some trucks have and there is a known fix. They took care of it no questions asked.

Yeah I’m going to mention it at the next service. Haven’t had an issue but that one time.

 

Got the same message this AM on my way to work



Roads were snow packed and icy, I was on 4x2 slipping here and there. Wonder if truck was tired of my crap and said "ENOUGH!! Get on 4X4!!".

I pulled over, turned off engine, restarted and messages went away. I turned on 4x4 the rest of the way and message never came back on. Will keep an eye on it and bring it up during the next service.

I've had it. In my case it was the wiring on a brand new trailer. According to the dealer it can also happen if you get too much moisture in the trailer plug. I guess it happens to a lot of people who pull boats. It commonly resets unless you really have a wiring issue. The real pain is that if you are pulling a trailer with breaks, they will not work.

 

My brother in law just had this same message this past week. He's trying for warranty on it. He said he had a strong case for it.

 

ABS module went kablooey with mine.

 

Same thing happened to me Monday night. I was at a friend's house parked in grass with 4 days worth of rain, tire broke loose in 2wd, when I put it in 4wd boom. Turned truck off and it was gone.

 

I still haven't been in for service yet, but I'll have them check it out. It hasn't returned yet, just a one time deal so far.
