Transfer case info.

I seek it, for reasons I shall enumerate presently.

 

I wish to know what model transfer case is in my Tundroid. A simple Google search was fraught with dealer invites and failed to yield ore.

 

It’s not the same as the 07 through 13. This unit is a Borg Warner.



Transfer Case
The Tundra gets a new T-case for 2014. It’s manufactured by BorgWarner and it has cut metal gears that are heat-treated for strength. The output shafts are hardened steel. Toyota points out that there are no powdered metal gears or shafts in this transfer case. The new case is said to have larger bearings than its predecessor and it was designed to engage faster in 4-Hi. The new T-case has a low range ratio of 2.64:1. We encountered no problems engaging or switching between settings on the T-case. Also new is a larger-diameter rear driveshaft.

You can also just tell by the use of pipe plugs for the fill and drain plugs. Previously they used a bolt of some type.

I endeavor to determine if the front drive shaft turns at the same rate as the rear shaft.

Also, is it chain or gear drive.

Chain drive, and it's the Sequoia that gets an AWD transfer case.
