How much binding is "normal" in 4x4 hi or low? It seems quite bad on sharp turn radius on tar...

If you aren't on loose ground, snow, ice, etc. then you are going to damage it if you turn sharp. It's gonna bind and hop a lot. Don't do this.

My apologies if I am misunderstanding your post, but 4x4 should never be used for tight turns on dry ground.

No offense, but you really should do some research and understand how 4WD works, what you're doing is the textbook definition of what not to do

Driving straight in 4wd is fine on dry pavement. Turning, on dry pavement in 4wd is not good.

All that binding is normal. What's not normal is your driving. Read your owner's manual on 4 wheel drive operation.

I've been engaging in 4wd once a month too and from work like the manual recommends. I remember it binding once in the spring in snow, and last week pulling into a parking lot. Did not know this was normal, thank you.

You are misunderstanding the way they use normal. They're saying it's normal because you're putting strain on the 4x4 system that it shouldn't have and so it's going to bind. You need to disengage your four-wheel drive when you turn like that, because that binding will cause damage.
They're being slightly sarcastic saying normal because that's how physics works, not normal because it's okay for the truck.

Even a 4WD tractor will tell you in the manual do not drive on pavement with the 4WD engaged.

What I mean is that, yes, it's going to bind like that because you don't know what you're doing. You are not supposed to be driving in 4wd on dry pavement, PERIOD!! Yes, you should exercise the 4wd periodically, but do it on dry pavement ONLY when going straight. It's not necessary to go but a few yards, then disengage it. If you keep driving the way you are, you're going to end up breaking something.

On a positive note the Ravenol 75w in my T-case has been shifting smooth as glass the last couple of days.

    Lost track after #1.
While you're doing some reading, look up the difference between full-time AWD and 4WD. There's a lot of tech involved and it's a pretty interesting research rabbit hole.
