Filled up again yesterday. Went 335.7 miles on 23.24 gallons for 14.45 mpg. I've changed nothing. I get some random ass numbers. This tank I'll keep it at 75 and TRY to keep the shifts below 3k. I promise.....

For grins, I checked last week to see when the ‘winter blend’ gas went into effect. Its right around mid Sept.

I usually avg 3 weeks to a month between fill ups, so that other tank was probably early September. Doesn't winter blend give worse mpg?

11.2 MPG all city driving/idling with lots of towing. Not bad actually. Sea level on 285/75/r16.

Drove about 225 miles on 13.3 gallons 90% highway driving avg. speed of 65mph. 10% City under 25mph. No weight/tow/hauling. Running at lightest fighting weight.

    17 MPG

Truck engine is mechanically optimized and purring. Suspension/Tires set up is perfect for the highway/city driving.

pretty darn good. The key here is 65mph on the freeway. Once you hit speeds between 70-80 you’ll be lucky to hit 14mpg.

And stock tire size helps also. I just did a trip and was up in the 70 range lawfully and got 17mpg on 285/75/r16.

Where I get hammered the other way is in city driving where my average skews down compared to others with smaller tires. Rolling mass and the 3.91 ratio I guess?

Thats probably true! I did remember one time on freeway going 80mph for a major part of it, I did get about 21mpg when I filled up lol but I have never saw that again. As stated, stock tires help. But once these wear down, I will be up sizing, then we will see!

Here are my hand calculations from most of this past year. You can see a 3 month gap when I was on the Zoolander Tour in Malaysia.

Grand MPG yearly average is 13.55

I thought my undercover snorkel might be helping my mpg because it certainly felt better on my a$$ Dyno. Unfortunately I think I've been driving more spiritedly and have offset any efficiency gains. I got 14mpg with about 25-30% in town driving.

Made a trip to the salt mines. Did well. Mostly highway, but the idle time and putzing around the camp killed the overall mpg. Managed about 15mpg.

Me and my boss just took a trip to San Antonio in his 2006 tundra access cab 4.7 2wd. Speeds between 70-85 Then of course drove around town. His truck is stock but does have extra weight in the form of a bed slide and leer fiberglass camper (combined 500#?) He got 16 for the trip and driving around town.
