Thanks for everyone’s info and sharing on this forum! I let go of buying American trucks I can’t seem to get past 100k without major issues on Fords or Chevys.
Yesterday I purchased a 2017 Tundra CrewMax, with: 4wd, 36k, parking sensors, blind spot, track bed system, nav system 38gallon tank, clean car fax. Fingers crossed reliability is true. :)

Yes, the 3rd gen Tundra's are a simple truck, made with a "proven" power-train. My Tundra was our 6th Toyota. I had three 4Runners before that...100k is just the break-in period. No reason to push it into the 200k's....

Thank you everyone! So far I love the ride. The local Toyota dealer who will do the maintenance looked it over. I will say I am super impressed with Toyota’s service department. They didn’t push any up sells. Just shared the 4wd light flashing when shifted back to 2wd is likely due to the previous owner not engaging 4wd often enough to maintain it. However they brought out their mechanic who drove it. He shared the same feedback. But they documented it and shared I was covered under power train. They also have me engaging the 4wd on and off for the next month around town or neighborhood. The mechanic shared right now it is not acting like an actuator, rather when 4wd isn’t used at all or that often. He double checked they documented everything and to let them know how it is in a month.

Welcome to the fun! Sounds like you got a nice rig! Once I said to my service advisor that I hadn’t seen him in a while and his response was “these trucks never break”

Sure. This forum helped me to figure out pricing strategies for the last six months.

I do want to preface that there were some really odd things that occurred during the process that I have never experienced buying a vehicle. Sorry for long post...lol.

OTD: $34,297 (the sheet shows $34,769) when they called in for my trade I had made two payments.

    My trade was a Ford F-150 2wd, 2 door, 107k - they gave me 10k.
    Kbb value was $6400

    1. Kia dealership on other side had the truck. They shared they never take in many trucks. This is important for the second item that I believe was reflected in the price.

    2. They did not know the truck had the options it did on it, like parking sensors. Even after I purchased the truck they looked up the model and said 26 gallon tank. It has a 38. They also didn’t have the window sticker. It appears they never ran the vin for the specs of the vehicle.

    3. While looking at the vehicle for over 2 weeks this dealer kept calling and lowering the price. I thought that was weird because in town Tundras are gold and I couldn’t get dealers to move on several 2015’s that were identical miles and less features. The three 2015’s I called on over the last 5 months were 3k more OTD with less features.

    4. The Kia dealership gave me a ridiculous high price for my trade. Well at least on paper who knows how they do their accounting? Lol. It was way higher than Kelly blue book or what other dealers were offering.

    5. After I purchased, I took the vehicle to the Toyota dealer on my side of town to establish a maintenance schedule, the manager and I had been friendly and he asked the OTD, plus what they gave for my trade. When I told him, he immediately had the truck put through a mechanical check (for free) and he looked at the exact specks/history of the truck on the computer. He did this even though there was a clean car fax. The manager wanted to make sure there was nothing hidden on the truck..aka Fraud.

    6. Tundra was/is in great shape. And we found the original window stickers together in the glove compartment as he was showing me features in the manual. The sticker was folded up and tucked away in the back part of the manual.

Thank you for the detailed response. The dealers in this area (FL) would not budge on price either. A few would move about $200-$500 but that is it.
