I am going to look at a 2001 Toyota Tundra tomorrow, it is an SR5 with the TRD package. I do not know what was part of the TRD package did it have a electric locker?

Get the vin, go here and register it and you can see everything it came with. Tundra's have never had an e-locker...the only Toyota's ever sold stateside with them are Tacoma's, 4Runners and Land/FJ Cruisers (Including, some of the early Lexus LC clones).

Fog lamps and the overfenders/mud flaps blew my skirt up. The other stuff I agree with you. Well worth the extra $955 at the time. Couldn’t imagine not having Fog Lamps.

Not necessarily true. I have a TRD and it’s an open diff... limited slip was another option.

Common misconception. Limited slip was a standalone option. Tundras never got the E locker that Tacomas had.

PHM tha stickers were the most important part.

That's what got me scratching my head. I don't know a whole lot about the details but, my truck has overfenders/mud flaps, fog lamps and a limited slip rear end and it's not a TRD. It's got me thinking, what would the TRD get you that you otherwise couldn't get?

I'm not 100%, but I think the trd package is just shocks and springs. I have the flaps, flares, and fogs as well. No lsd on mine though.

I think they came.with better shocks than the sr5 and limiteds as well. Possibly bilsteins. I know the first gen taco trds had bilsteins.and.progressive coils

It may only be different springs on the front. I now remember reading some members having different color coded marks on their front springs. I think mine are color coded with blue and yellow on one side and blue and green on the other. Non-turd springs are just blue? blue and another color?

It would have been really tough to find a 2020 Tundra in 2001 though....

    Yep. Good response!

Boxer: Keep in mind that even if we did have time machines back in 2002, I’d still have bought it in 2020 with 20/20 vision. Make sense?

The 2002 has never broken down and served nicely. Her restoration is ongoing, but a nice therapy. Might have 20 more years left on her? Loving the lack of truck payments and especially the $2000+ personal property tax every year that feeds the local politicians.

I think what we're all missing here is the all important TRD sticker that you get. That alone is worth 50+ HP, 3 more inches of up travel and 5 more inches of down travel. It's TOTALLY worth it!

The water is getting muddy. What comes on a TRD and what can you only get on a TRD (not on SR5) are different questions.

    TRD exclusives:
    Sticker & emblems
coils (heavier spring rate but all were progressive)

TRD included but also could be had on SR5:
    Forged alloy wheels
    265/70/16 tires
    Bilstein yellow/blue HD shocks
    Fender flares

LSD was not included as part of the TRD package. Neither was the tow package. Totally separate upgrades.
