Anybody else experienced this? Hasn't done it all summer, but now as temps begin to dip in 40s I'm hearing it again. Happens right at initial acceleration. Seems worse if I come to abrupt stop and start.

I thought for the longest it was something in the brakes but as I mentioned it was a non-issue over the summer.

    Thanks in advance!

Do you have more info? Where is the sound coming from? As far as i know, these trucks don't have a throttle cable.

You don't have a throttle cable, your truck is drive by wire. It's something else.

Well damn, I'm not sure then. Sounds like a hollow popping. You can feel it in the pedal. Just does it once. I'm not sure where it is coming from. Thanks for the info.

ABS self check. Does it once every time you start your truck and drive off. Usually somewhere around 15 mph.If you don’t want to hear it adjust the settings so that your door locks lock at speed. They will lock at the same time the ABS does it’s self check.

I should have been more clear, it does it multiple times after the truck has been started, only once after stop and take off.

Interesting. If you’re still under warranty you should just take it in and let them deal with it. Can you have someone get in the cab and replicate it for you while you’re looking under the hood?

Wonder if it’s something like a sticking butterfly in the throttlebody. Maybe try cleaning your throttlebody.

Could it be some crud on the pedal mechanism? From the information on other threads, it can be removed with 2 10mm bolts and a couple of connectors. Try using your hand to move it and see if it binds at any point.

I dont recall, but do these trucks have slip yolk drive shafts at the transmission? The reason I ask is my last ford had a similar issue when accelerating from a stop and it was due to the drive shaft slip yolk not being properly lubed. I removed the drive shaft and lubed the splines and the problem bever came back.

It sounds like it does it when he’s in park too.

That’s a good idea. Maybe when it’s cold out things bind on that pedal assembly.

My new cat back exhaust does something like this under the conditions you mention. Crawl under it when cold and try to recreate the noise at the exhaust compression clamp. Mine makes noise there when I push/pull on it.

If it's something in the pedal itself, it should also do it without the engine running.
