    Just like the title says, I'm in need of a shovel. Ideally, I'd like something that is light and long enough where I'm not hunched over.

    I’ve never found a shovel that fit my hands correctly, I carry a fold up shovel from the military bought at Army surplus many yrs ago.

    Second this. Shovel is for an emergency, you are not going to make a living using one, the military one will do just fine. It's what I use.

    I'm not in it for the gram. Function over form. I just grab one of the fiberglass handled, round point shovels that my construction business uses. It's cheap, sturdy, works well and not likely to be envied or stolen.

    Get two. A shorter D handled one for tight spaces, and a long handled one for everything else.

    I use my old Gyrine collapsible shovel and a long square and pointed shovel. The two long shovels combined with my swiss army blanket makes for a very good impromptu stretcher...fyi

    Except one. Digging tires out. The main thing I need a shovel to do. I’m afraid I’ll jam it to get through rocks and puncture a tire. Why I skipped getting one of these when we had a group buy.

    They do look cool though. :cool:

    I got one on Amazon. Sturdy and cheap. I’ll find it, post it, and tag you.

    I got this one, @FirstGenVol. It’s kind of “in-between” short and long in handle length, so if you only want to carry one, this works when you’re standing up, and when you finally sit down next to the truck (in the shade) to scoop out whatever you high-centered on on <picture the bag on head emoji here>.     I think I spent $17.00 at LOWE's for my short D handle shovel, standard shovels aren't much more - and I recommend one with a fiberglass handle.

    I get mine at Tractor Supply with a wood handle. That fiberglass eventually splinters if your thinking about that. What type of shovel digging or shoveling shi*t?

    Wood handles are much better than fiberglass in the long run..

    A buddy of mine got stuck on the beach. His military Etool sucked. Park Ranger came out to assist. In his truck he had full sized curved shovel and a shorter D-handle. Both of them were a Godsend over the military tool. So for my truck I just bought the Bully D-Handle 92510 on Amazon.
