Extang Solid fold 2.0 supposed to wrinkle?

I just got my Extang solid fold yesterday. Looks great. However, today we had sunny 65 and and my cover started to wrinkle on top. Large wrinkles on each panel. Is this cover supposed to do that? Anyone else experience this with theirs? Damn this is disappointing.

I guess Im the only one one here with this cover. Lol. I get to reply to my own thread. Sorry just venting because this cover stinks. Dont buy.
I do not want another Extang product because they apparently have quality control issues. I had the cover on two days. Sunny one day and bubbles or waves appear. Next day rain and this leaks water everywhere. Im so pissed right now.

 

send the same image to extang customer service and see what they have to say. use the Twitter or the Instagram as it let's the masses see the support

 

I have one and it does leak. Mine leaks at the hinges. It did not wrinkle though. I wish I would have purchased the Diamondback cover.

 

Thanks. I have no choice but to contact Extang if i want to return it. Which I will do. I looked at the Diamondback but I remove my cover often and it looks like it might be heavy or a pain to remove. I had an old Undercover one piece on my old Titan and it was one piece. A little to large and bulky which made it a pain to take off and on.

 

I've not seen any evidence of wrinkles on mine. Granted mine sits in the garage at nights but its in the sunlight during the day. I've got minor leaking via one hinge point only and surprisingly, I've found watermarks on one of the clamp points. I plan to get some pictures to Extang soon to find some resolution. The other thing to consider is that I think water also gets under the bedrail caps into the bed. I plan to try and get some sort of seal under the bedrail cap this summer.

 

Yes the water does come in a little from the bed rails. I think the reason it comes from the seams is that the water is coming between the panel and the frame of the panel. Not the hinge itself. If they would have put some sealant in frame before the panel goes in it probably won’t leak.

 

Mine wrinkled and leaked and was replaced with a Tyger vinyl tri fold that keeps the bed bone dry.

 

bed cover solutions are tough to match with our needs... we all want different funtionalities I'm so torn picking one. I like Diamondbacks but i love being able to toss a tall item in the bed so the cover would get in the way.

I have a Bak Flip MX4 as I opted never to buy any Extang product for this reason as their product is just not made well at all, my Bak Flip is all Aluminum and never had a problem with seals against water and or warping, I have used my truck in all sorts of weather environments from snow to downright severe rain storms over the last 2 years I've owned the my truck and cover. Sorry this happened to you and hope Extang stands behind their product and either replaces it or refunds your money.

 

I had to call them and they sent me another panel to replace it.

They are junk and in the spring I am going to buy something different.

They blamed over tightening it but I had it installed. Now, by not tightening it I have leaks. Fucking junk

Either way, contact them and they will send another panel for you to replace and use that one for working under it or something.

Also get some caps so that when you unscrew and strip the rubber ends you can replace the piles of shit too

I have an Extang. It dents easily and leaks but it is not supposed to wrinkle like that. I'd contact Extang. Honestly, I'd get a refund and buy a different trifold. Not a big fan of mine. I'm just putting up with mine for now until I can pull the trigger on a different one.

 

I had an Extang solid fold 2.0 and wished I had never bought it. It leaked like crazy and just seemed to be made very cheap. I now have a Diamondback HD and could not be happier. Worth every penny.

 

I've been very pleased with my extang soft tri-fold cover. no leaks, either. I suppose, as with most things, YMMV.

 

I called Bakflip yesterday. I have mine figured out with the leaks pretty much. Put in bed seals and make sure the rail extends past the seals. Was trying to see if the had a insert that I could extend back more like the cap on the end but slightly thicker. They weren't very interested in helping.

 

I only leak at the top of the tail gate where the end of the last panel meets the gap between tail gate and bed wall, It doesn't bother me if water intrudes at this location, eventually I will buy a tail gate seal and that will resolve the problem, the other item to note on the Bak Flip is to always use Armor All or similar protectant on all exterior seals to prevent UV damage, I wipe these down every time I wash my truck.

I'm going to use this on the junction at the front of the bed an a piece piece to seal the front portion of the rail on on each side . This stuff is sticky like crazy. https://tailgateseal.com/ToyotaTundra.html.
Do not use the strip they say on the top of the tailgate sides. It blocks the drain if the truck is sitting neutral or nose up. The rail needs to extend beyond the tailate seal so it can drain on the other side of the tailgate seal

You better have it lined up before you let the adhesive touch. Bakflip guy on the phone said they're not 100% and I laughed and said you hire me and I'll show you how. I was almost like WTF? If they thought out the seals and install process they may have a better rep in the market. But then again, what would we have to do on the weekends?
