Looks good Ron! I'm still undecided if I want to have them on a switch as well, but being able to light up the area when NOT in reverse for any reason necessary seems cool to me. Just seeing if the wiring is beyond my ability, ha.

I installed the Rigid dually flood lights in my rear bumper. I'm very happy with them. I can't say if paying $180 is going to be a noticeable difference versus the less expensive ones. I did bolt my lights with locking washers on the backside of the trim so a thief couldn't steal them easily. Here is a link to my install.

Nice, so did you wire them to your reverse and also to the switch? My problem is going to be cutting through the bumper, if I go that route.

no worries brotha. I didn't learn without help from others first. I'm working on a few light mods right now but not going to post them until they are complete. I want to post them with a simplistic schematic so they will be easy to duplicate. Im still gonna post the schematic with the reverse lights so the pods can be wired in them.

I kept my Rigid dually lights on the switch only. Since there are times I don't want to blind people with them when I'm in reverse. Here is another reverse light and bracket by zroadz if you don't want to cut the bumper.

I've seen that, but I dont really like the look of it and seems unstable. It's a thought though.

Here is another bad ass way to install hidden reverse lights in between the bumper and tailgate. Rigid now sells these small lights called ignite recessed. The install is super clean and very well hidden. Lights sell for around $60-70 each.

They are 1000 lumens per light! I have a few buddies with this set up and they have four rigid ignite lights for their reverse lights.

Yes that is how the diode works. The diode will be placed in between the connection from your reverse lights and the pods and toggle switch. The diode works by only letting current flow in one direction. they are either forward or reverse bias. that only applies when you hook it up.

I had this simple set up on a previous truck. It's very simple for install. You just mount the light over hitch mount and wire the light into your trailer harness wiring. It works great and cost around $80-100. IMG_5276.jpg

Ya, thought I had a plan. Well, better now than after I cut the bumper and install...haha I'd still put 'em in the bumper but the cut out would be a lot smaller.

Well I went ahead and just bought the cheap "Nilight" ones to install into the bumper. I'm going to wire them in with my reverse lights for now and not worry about putting them also on a separate switch. Maybe later I'll get those small Rigid ones to install under my tailgate and put them on a switch.

Now the question is, how the hell do I cut into my metal bumper, ha. There is a small plastic area just to each side of the license plate step, before the metal bumper starts, think they could go there and look ok? Humm....

Your bumper is different from mine, meaning that I had no choice but to put it in the metal. I used a drill to get all four corners of the hole I was making. Then I used a sawsall with a metal blade to cut up and across. Be sure to have a few blades as it's much nicer to swap out a blade that is getting a bit dull than it is to keep on using a blade that is done.

I also used some rust neutralising primer on the bare metal that I exposed. I hoped to avoid causing my bumper to get the rust cancer.

Can someone point me to where I can find the diode to purchase? I looked online and found all kinds of stuff, so wasn't sure, ha. I think I'm finally ready to give his project a try and after thinking about it, I really want to install the switch.

What about a relay. I looked it up and there are several different ones, ha.

In addition, anyone got a good place to buy custom dash switches that will fit in the blanks?

To keep from a long back and forth. I searched to the depths of the earth and found this gem. Take a read through it and maybe it will help. Shoot me a message if you have ANY questions. Hope this helps.

I did 4 lights under the bumper 0 cutting. Last truck I did put flush mounts in but they started to rust.

Hey Wes, I'm doing the same mod shortly. I got these www.amazon.com/Light-Flush-Offroad-Town-Off-Road. They come with the relay and some wire. For the rear bumper you'll need more wire. You can get switches inexpensively on Ebay like this:
I haven't figure out the diode yet.

Got my switches! Also came with this diagram, but not sure if it applies tying it in with my reverse lights. Now to go pick up the relay and a diode.

Bringing this back to life for a second. I've got my diodes and know how to do all that to put a switch. Currently I have my lights spliced into my reverse, power and ground. When I put the diode in, is in okay to leave everything spliced as far as the ground goes or do I need to specifically run a ground wire for the pod lights. I plan to put the diode in and leave the pod lights spliced to the reverse so that way all four lights come on with the button or being in reverse so is it okay to leave it all spliced into the ground of the actual reverse light or should I run a ground wire for the pods separate of the ground for the actual reverse light

I actually haven't been able to do mine yet. Was waiting on a guy but he's been too busy. At the point I'm just going to do it myself. Thanks for bringing it back up.

Luckily for me I have everything installed, in removing one lightbsr bc it's cheap and filling up with water so I'm just going to steal that button and wiring. Just gotta run a power cable from the engine compartment to the back of the truck and wire in this diode and possibly a ground
