I had an interesting visit recently. We typically take our vehicles to our local Big-O for new tires and any tire related work (fixing flats, balance, rotate, etc.).

The free maintenance at my dealer expired since I'm over the 24,000 mile limit (I had only had them do the tire rotation, I do all my own oil/filter changes).

I was due for the next rotation and called Big-O to see if I needed an appointment. No need they said, bring it on over. I also wanted them to check the balance since I was feeling a little wiggle on the steering wheel at highway speeds.

Long story short: They remove the wheels, balance checked them (all needed some weight adjustment), rotated F/R, hand torqued the lug nuts and adjusted tire pressures to what I had specified (32F, 35R). I was at the 40,000 mile mark.

They did this for no charge, zero. This is the first time I had brought the Tundra to them and I expected to pay the going rate. They would not accept payment at all. Truck drove smooth as glass when I drove it home.

This is first rate. I won't go anywhere else for tire/wheel service. Good prices on tires, etc.

    Just a kudos for Big-O.

Sounds like a great place. That is also a great way to help generate repeat business.

Why do you air your rear tires up higher than front?

I’m glad you found a good one. The one by my place should be closed down. The people that work there shouldn’t be allowed to work at a junk yard

Placard is 30F, 33R. I run 2 psi higher so the TPMS warning doesn't light up in cold weather. I was visiting my brother in Bend, Oregon and when I left his house, it was 25F and the TPMS warning light didn't go off until I was on the highway for some time. Going to 32F, 35R solved the problem.

That's too bad, our outfit has been stellar. I typically do not trust shops in general and was reluctant the first time we used them several years ago. We're good to go here.

I was curious as I’ve always ran front tires a bit higher than rear in my trucks (essentially opposite of what you’re doing) as there’s more weight up front.

I have a 2WD so that is probably the reason. I'll put a bit more air in the rear if I am towing for a distance (depending on weight) but I typically leave them at 32F, 35R. It handles and rides very nice.

I use discount tire. They do the same for free as well. Now you’ll go there to buy your next set of tires

Big O have good service, but they do charge a premium price for it. But I rather pay the price then going back three four times.

I have used them before as well when I was on the road. Had a nail in my left rear tire (160 miles from home), they fixed it for free, checked all of my other three tires to make sure they were okay and checked the pressures. This is a good outfit as well.

Got multiple sets of tires for the wife and daughter at Big O. A little more expensive but convenient and legit.
