So I have 14 tundra with the 18 headlights installed. Recently my fuse tap has caused issues with my truck starting. Dealer states it made the starter relay fail. Any suggestions on where to plug in the fuse tap without causing issues. Or how to hard wire for DRL strip? It is currently just unplugged and I don’t see anything noticeably wrong with the tap itself. Guys help me out.
    Thanks

No. The Tundra didn't get factory LED headlights until 2018. Previous to that were halogen only (with an LED daytime running light strip on the 1794/Platinums).

Which harness do you have to hook up your LED housings?

I mean the halogen high/low beam lights with the led drl? Those came on platinum/1794 tundras from '14-'17

If you didn't have those than you need an adapter wire harness to make the '18 led headlights compatible to your truck

Ask @iHacker. He custom builds wiring harnesses for adapting LEDs. Work great.

I was an early adapter and got the harness from eldouleu. (Probably butchered his name)
Anyway they worked great for a year and some change. Maybe I should get a new harness, but I already re-pinned the connectors for this harness and that was a PIA.

You would still need an adapter harness either way. It's just an easier set of connectors, but you'd still need to convert the older 'halogen' plugs to to the new LED-based connectors into the back of the headlight housing.

Sorry to hear that. I used him for my retrofit MLED projector headlights. All was good until someone hit my truck, damaged a headlight, and I had to get it replaced. He was nowhere to be found, so I converted to the Toyota OEM LEDs and haven't looked back. I'd get the ihacker 'dimming' harness if I was you. It's easy to do and requires no wire-cutting (the hard part is running the cable through the firewall). He does have an 'always bright' DRL option with a fuse tap, however.

This explains it all, say no more. Save up some money and get a legit high quality harness from @iHacker
