Without getting toooooooo deep. This should be a life choice not just when buying a vehicle.

OP at least you went with the best truck you can buy, so you did not screw up there!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buttttt I can deff say I have done it to. Sometimes you need to get something first, only to know what is a deal breaker for the next time.

I had a sunroof, leather, and heated seats on my 2010 4Runner. I do miss that stuff, but the 5.7 that came with my Tundra makes me not care.

Exactly. Every vehicle I’ve ever bought with navigation, premium sound etc. never really hits the mark. Factory/OEM navigation and infotainment systems are just not very good.

That is precisely I opted for the 4x4, 5.7L SR. I can add/modify features as I need and not pay for a premium Package that isn’t very good.

I was just talking about this very topic. I love my 2015 sr5 trd but with driving 30k miles a year I really miss the features i thought I didnt care about ( tech, climate control, sunroof,etc...) I do have katskinz leather and IMO I feel its better quality than OEM.

I find myself taking my wifes new VW Atlas on work trips over 2 hours one way because of the features it has and it is so much more comfortable and quiet.

If I would do it again, Id go limited at a min and maybe even a platinum for the right deal.

I can relate. I spent about two weeks researching Tundras (every feature, every aspect) and dialed in exactly what I wanted. The dealer took my comprehensive list, searched and found exactly what I had specified at a dealer about 3 hours away (he didn't have one on the lot). They made a trade and I drove home the Tundra of my dreams at the price I was willing to pay.

That was more than 1 1/2 years ago (2018 bought in January of 2018). I could not be happier and would not trade this Tundra for anything on wheels.

I had buyers remorse for a little while after buying my 2015 SR5. no automatic headlights, no auto a/c, only one auto window (and only auto down), no back lighting on the dash. old school antenna that has to be removed in car wash. relatively tedious oil changes. lots of little cost cutting measures that annoyed the hell out me that my 2008 accord had at much much lower price point. looking back on it, i realize I was kinda silly. learned to live without them. and less crap to stop working.

I'm sort of the opposite. I sprung for the Limited with all the bells and whistles, but in hindsight I wish I would have saved the extra cash ($4k ish?) and gone with the SR5 TRD Offroad.

The Leather is... meh. IMO not the best quality, would rather have the Katzkin.

The JBL "Premium" audio is far from premium. Would rather start from scratch with my own aftermarket set up.

The sunroof is nice, but I could totally live without it. One less thing to leak, break, or get shattered by a rock on the freeway.

I find the dual climate controls annoying and too complicated. Give me three dials. One for temp, fan speed, and mode - SIMPLE. Heated seats... would be hard to give up. Would probably do them aftermarket along with the Katzkin leather.

One thing I'm not sure of - are the LED headlights available in the SR5? Those are a must.

You know what they say... hindsight is 20/20!

Yes, I did about the same in research time. Shopped around for about 2yrs test drove SR5, did not like to much. Test drove Limited, I like. Wound up with a Mint CPO 2014 Silver Sky Platinum 2wd with under 18k miles. Came with Remote Start , ARE LSll Series Tonneau Cover :), Spray-on bed liner :), and 4 new Michelin Defender LTX M/S tire's. I added TRD rear-sway, :D Husky floor mats/better then Weathertech.

I am currently shopping for a used Tundra and going through these same discussions! Can’t decide if I want a sporty looking SR5 with nice wheels etc, or a Limited. For me, it is the difference of buying a 2019 with 2k-10k miles, or a 2017 Limited with 35k-40k miles. Decisions decisions.

Unless you bought a 18 or newer you would not get back lighting on dash. Shortcoming on Tundra versus Tacomas

Yes, you can get the LED headlights in an SR5. They come as part of the Sport package. I love them on my new truck.

18 and on also adds the toyota safety items like adaptive cruise and lane assist, if you are in to the new tech items.

Am I the only one that hates sunroofs? They’re prone to leaking (had a Camry that the drain line came disconnected and would leave the carpet soaked. Have a Civic now that I haven’t diagnosed the problem yet.). I’ve never opened the one on my F250, don’t like the glare from the sun either. I’m glad my Tundra doesn’t have one.

It is kind of odd how they include certain features. My LED headlights and LED fog lights are part of the TRD Off-Road Package but it states "on SR5 Models only, Standard on Limited and 1794 Edition Models." Mine has the SR5 Upgrade Package so I was good to go.

I'm not sure if it's an "Alaska" thing or just an anomaly when I happened to be in the market, but when I was shopping around there was very little difference in price between comparable mileage/condition SR5's and Platinums, maybe a couple thousand at most, so naturally I went with a Platinum and I'm glad I did. Coming from the Chevy world where even low trim levels have had dual climate control for over a decade now that was a feature I would have seriously missed since my wife and I's temperature preferences do not always match up so just that alone was worth it for me plus all the other stuff is nice too ;)

Sr5 here complete with a layer of dust all over the interior, german shepherd hair, drool on the interior windows, coffee stains and old dirt / mud on the floorboards....should probably change that cracked windshield at some point too. I like the fact that I have to manually turn my headlights on and that when my wife gets inside she is like, gross.

    Truck. Work. Man shit.

Well, yours still has a lot of value. Don't know if you're in the position to sell it and have a vehicle to get by for a bit but get what you want. I bought my 17' then sold my 04. Of course you'll get way more value selling private party than trade in.

I’m in the minority in this regard. I actually like the simple features of Tundras. The only “fancy” thing I wanted was a backup camera to make it easier to hook up my boat trailer.

3/1 lift on 20" OZs with KOs, LED fogs, steps and a handle
Toyota doesn't offer the 8' bed in anything over an SR5, so I got the most basic SR looooooooooong bed I could find - then slowly added a bunch of stuff..... door grab handle, floormats, a level lift, wheels and tires, LED fogs, intermittent wipers, Homelink rear view and some tow mirrors, a TRD sway bar and Kenwood wireless Carplay.

....and I'd do it that way again.

Get what you want, how you want it, and you don't have it do it all in one day.
