I've got a pixel 3xl and the 996. Running maps from android auto wirelessly all day long (leaving home around 7am and driving down to the coast all day and back that evening leaves me about 25%. I was all hopped up about installing a wireless stand pad under my armrest until after using it but it has yet to be an issue. I get nearly full charge (from ~25% or so) with maps going plugged into the head unit USB after about three hours driving so not fast charge but pretty damned good.

Does anyone know if we can remove the warning display when in reverse “check surroundings before backing up” ?

Kind of. You have to tap on it with your finger. It comes back on every time though.

For those that installed the Kenwood does it connect to bluetooth fast? and if you're in a nd out of the truck?
I had an older Kenwood 2011-ish) and if I started the truck without having my phone (remote start) and then brought the phone it wouldn't connect.
The ENTUNE is fantastic in this respect. I was just wondering if Kenwood has improved before I purchase a 996 or 9906.

I generally remote start my truck every time I get in and out of it so the head unit can finish booting up, which make no mistake; seems slow to me. By the time I've walked to the truck and gotten in, it's connected for me every time since it's been installed.

EDIT: I will say that I've lost the wifi connection between my phone and the head unit about half a dozen times in the hundreds of times I've started the truck. Hitting the AA icon on the head unit has reconnected it every time though.

I couldn't connect to my AA this morning via wireless because it didn't recognize the phone, i disabled my bluetooth on my phone and re-enabled it, it picked it up right after that. I'm not hopping in and out but I do have short drives to work/home/pickup my kid. Regular BT itself had no problems. Seems fine so far, im on ddx9905s with Pixel 3. Not sure if this response helps LOL.

This is all good info for me.
Is the warning display on the whole time ,and does it block the screen view of the camera? Or is it more like a banner at the bottom than you can ignore? MY wife's KIA has that message every time you start the car and the screen is black until touch it to acknowledge. I really hate that.

It's at the top about a quarter inch down. It also displays the A/V input channel name which does go away on its own, however the "check surroundings" banner stays until you tap it with your finger.

    Got it. Thanks.
I'm really trying to decide with going to a 9906 or staying with stock HU and DSR-1 so all these little things weigh in on the decision. Of course I don't use slacker or iHeart radio and I hate cycling through "mode" and getting stock on those booting uo with no way to remove the app. frustrating.

I only have experience with wireless CarPlay, but yes it will reconnect after you leave your vehicle and return. If you have a song playing and you walk away, then you come back it will reconnect with the song back on. Make sure you update the firmware of the radio though. The newest firmware came out Oct 4 and is V1.6. The connectivity has improved with each update.

Has anyone experienced their head unit restarting on its own while in use?

ok I found out that you can touch the screen left or right and it will remove the warning.. not the best option but better than nothing.

I just installed a Kenwood DDX-8906S with the RR and having issues with the dynamic parking lines. When my steering wheel is straight, the dynamic parking lines appear to be fully turned to the left; when my steering wheel is turned far right, the dynamic lines are straight. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

    Thanks!

Check to see if the Maestro has a setting for setting it up in the radio menu. Otherwise, maybe it's possible the wheel was crooked when it was first initialized? Maybe try resetting the maestro while making sure the wheel is straight.

I just bought the DNX996XR with a Maestro RR unit and some Memphis MClass speakers from a local shop. They are installing it next week. The information y’all have shared here is gold. I am stoked. My 2011 Texas Edition SR5 is about to get a major upgrade. (I don’t have the Entune system).
