So hopefully this isn't a dumb question, but what is the expected power potential with E85? Is it significant enough for those of us that are NA to make a significant difference, or is it only for those with boost that can benefit from it?

May I be bumped in line for the tune please? My truck will be in the shop and I will not able to touch it so no reason for me to hold up anyone else that is waiting.

Running E85 and a good tune would produce significant gains for NA using the FFV platform and should be well within the limits of the factory fuel system. For boosted applications also, with supporting mods to ensure proper fuel flow...maybe a boost a pump could handle the additional flow and maintain proper pressure...IDK. Will let the go fast guys expand on this as I SC'd mine simply to make a better tow platform.

I have no doubt you're working as fast as you can and I know it will be worth the wait. I hate even writing this here bc I don't want to stir the pot or piss anyone off. I'm not mad or upset, I am growing impatient, but really if I just understood what the hold up was I'd feel better. @OVTune I'm still in the dark and that really doesn't feel good as a customer. Is there any way possible you could explain to me in laymen's terms what makes my ECU so hard? It's disheartening when I see people that have ordered after me posting about how awesome it is. I'd prefer it to be in private over email or messages. This is regarding order 5042, ECU 0CL11

each new ecu has differences from the others. You’ve got to sift through all the code and figure out what’s different from the others and how the changes will effect this one. sometimes there are fixes or changes from Toyota to the logic and you then need to re-engineer the changes to account for this change.

it’s not as simple as a 7 changing to an 8. There are typically multiple tables and calculations that are all interrelated that all need accounted for

plus this is all in assembly code which is one of the most difficult things in the programming world.

One ECU isn't necessarily harder than the other. Each ECU just has unique addresses for where everything is, and code is changed as a result of that. It's a matter of setting up each ecu, and part of the job as well is squiring the file itself.

I am sorry for the wait time on your ecu, I have the files and am working on getting everyone who is pending updated this week, including you.

I just stumbled across this thread and without reading through 51 pages, Are there any tunes yet for the 2018 FFV 5.7 Tundra? (I only run NON-Ethanol in my truck)

I'm sure that there are, but that's not quite how these work. They're done by your ECU calibration, and there can be several for each Model Year/vehicle configuration/modifications. They're not "canned" in the traditional way of thinking. They require time and patience to get and to get updates for.

I understand that. Seems like everything I see stops at 2017. Wasn't sure if anyone is doing anything for the 18's yet. Curious as to wether anyone has hacked the ECU's to do any tuning yet on the 2018 and later trucks.

Okey dokey. I was going to link you to the relevant info on the website, but it appears that it's been changed until they get set up in their new location. See what it shows the first week or so of next month.

Yes we can do 2018s, only caveat is 2018s require a ecu recall from the dealership be done

I would really just like a response to my email or here about what you would like to see in data logs @OVTune as far as how the vehicle is driven for logging. Do you want a log of a cold start to warm up? want a log a full throttle pull from a stop, or maybe 3rd gear? Just want to make it as streamlined as it can be so I dont waste time sending you data logs that are useless to you.

From the very first time I posted about OV tune getting into tuning the tundra until my first OV tune file, was 2 1/2 years. I win. Maybe win isn't the right word... Lol. :D

    OV Tune,

Are the new E85 tunes only for the Flex Fuel trucks, or is this something that will be capable on the regular "gas" trucks now?

Im SC 'gas'... it would be pretty sweet to add E85 if I wanted to do a race tune (although I guess it would require an ethanol sensor).... crap, i think i just answered my own question. :(

There's also the issue of other components that aren't immune to the corrosive tendency of ethanol that only the FFVs have. You'd have to sort out that aspect.

Right, I was told when I bought my truck, the engine components are hardened to resist the water content in e85. I can't remember everything he said, except that and the injectors being larger in an ffv.

I dont know if thats entirely true. (going off my professional experience in absolutely nothing:D) ... injectors are definitely bigger, but other than that, an Ethanol sensor, and tune, not sure theres a whole lot more thats different. maaayyyyvbe different fuel lines/components? I bet the internals are all the same.

It would be pretty sweet to add an oem ethanol sensor to a non-FFV SC truck and flash a custom tune with SC injector scaling but based from the FFV ECM, and be able to run it.... which begs the question about wiring harness differences too. (ie: are gas the same harness and just have an empty plug, or are FFV a different one all together.)

We run OV tune on our 2016 Tacoma for quite a while now, so I had no apprehension getting this right away for our tundra.

I’ve been running the OV tune on my 2018 tundra for a couple weeks now. The entire driving experience is improved. The truck is so much smoother; acceleration, shifting and highway driving.

It also makes the cruise usable. Instead of the truck wanting to downshift two gears on the slightest incline.

I highly recommend doing this mod. I was get so frustrated with how my truck drove on the highway. Toyota really sucks at making a good driving experience, OV foxes that.
