Thank you. If I can convince my kids to go to State I'm all-in haha! Really enjoyed the fishing up through Stanley last year and took the kids whitewater rafting. Great time. I've heard nothing but great things about Boise. Although, I'm sure it's booming as well.

The only time I take anything personally is when my wife drinks my last beer or my kids eat the last cookie.

So are we still taking applications and charging the $100 processing fee?

That's funny - my son is big in to math and there are a lot of great math schools in Ca. Can we use your address for in state tuition if you don't move? :) :spending:
It's definitely booming here. There's good and bad, of course. It will slow down eventually. Stanley is gorgeous. The hike to Sawtooth Lake is maybe my favorite day hike ever.

I say move to Colorado. Our governor is from CA, tons of people from CA here.

If you like northern Idaho, I would go there. Seriously, especially if by Bonners Ferry.

just got back from there and been there before. it is very nice but it can get expensive for people if you don't have a good job I think. Gas in flagstaff was close to $3 where I pay $3.89 in CA so a $1 difference per gallon. Sedona was nice but full of hippies..lol..and they charge $5 for a coffee and $4 for a bagel with cream cheese. I don't see any major business beside tourism there so I don't know how people can live there..unless they are all retired. Landscape was beautiful but I felt we have the same in Cali. All in all not enough to make me move there really. Only good thing, I could CCW all day.

I have lived in San Antonio my whole life and I am at a point, that I cant handle the summers anymore! If it were not family or work, I would move in a heart beat! I took the kids backpacking in Yosemite this summer WOW what a beautiful park. Then we drove back down to LA and then up the coastline to San Jose, I have to say the weather was incredible. I could certainly live in that through the summers. Texas is hot and dry, especially this year. It seems like a ton of options in CA. I can see why people live there, but on the politics, cost of living, and taxes, this might not be the right choice for everyone. I am a laid back dude, and in the short amount of time I was in CA, I got a small taste after asking for a straw and one meal I left a little on my plate and the waitress lectured me on food waste. LOL

Just got back from a trip to Portland and spent time on the coastline which is a very beautiful state. I can see why others have mentioned OR, I just don't know how cloudy it gets on the reg and that would be a deal killer for me. Colorado is a solid choice and that might be where I end up someday. I don't think any place will be 100% perfect but I am sure you can reach many of your goals. Once I get a little older and work is not an issue I will be looking myself.

Why is that? I spent a considerable amount of time in CO and CA. CO people that were originally from CO were pretty much pissed with the influx changing the culture of the state from sort of the old West. CA is a very beautiful state. Heck it was fairly rustic until a couple of decades ago. What changed CA to the point that it has become so god awful expensive and nannyish?

Don't get me wrong, Texas has it's big city issues just like LA and other big cities. I'm not from here but lived mostly in the deep south. Tried out NC and FL. Both are starting to get wonky. Texas is getting wonky too. I have assimilated the culture here and love the Texas traditions, but it goes too wonky I may move on.

I drove north to Roswell a couple of months ago. Definitely was different on the SE side of the state. Not a lot going on but fairly clean and people were nice.

Yeah, drag your ass to Houston you want to feel humidity and heat from the big city. NOLA is just as bad. What's weird though our heat index follows Houston. Houston is more humid and a few degrees lower in temp and vice versa here. I've had folks from MN and Detroit flying into Intercontinental and they were about have a cow when they walked onto the jet way.

Houston is the most horrible place on the planet. Texas heat with Florida humidity and traffic 24/7.

Of course Dallas traffic sucks too, it just isn't as humid.

North Carolina is great. Beaches that easily rival CA, and mountains with skiing and hiking as well. I lived in San Diego for 15 years in the service. Just do us all a favor and don’t bring the politics that make CA a shithole with you.
