Hey guys I just got my 2020 platinum so it has the job speaker system in it and I am having the weirdest issue. I play a lot of audio books driving to and from work so this is a big deal to me and making listening to them unbearable. So when I’m playing the audiobooks, when the narrator is taking after s sounds and sometimes without, there is this almost whistling sound coming out of the speakers. I tried different books by different people and it’s the same. Never had this issue in my old car. It’s all I can focus on and can’t even listen to the books. I tried different cords and even downloaded audible on my fiancé’s phone and same issue. I brought her out to make sure I wasn’t going crazy and she heard it as well. Does anyone know what could be causing this as well as a solution?

Read your owner manual re audio system setup. There is a screen where you can adjust tone and balance. Reduce the treble a notch or two to see if that doesn't help the hissing.

It's just with the audiobooks. I'm thinking that it's an issue with the audible app itself because when i have apple carplay hooked up and even just over bluetooth. I have to turn the volume much much higher than just the music player or spotify. I turned the treble all the way down and it's still there so i'm kind of at a loss. and i've only had the truck for 3 days, but this is pissing me off because I listen to audiobooks almost every day in the car.

Maybe the audiobook readers just have a lisssssssp. Sorry, I couldn't help it. :D

Dunno, as a non-audiophile, semi-deaf ME, that was my best idea. :notsure:

lol no it’s not that. I’ve listened to the same audiobook in other cars and haven’t had this problem and I listened to other books with different narrators and the problem persisted.

Yeah. I'm at a loss because I even installed the app new on my fiances phone and tried it and same issue. I think the sound system just sucks. Good thing it came with the "premium" jbl system lol

Bitch threads about the JBL system are a perennial, multi-year topic. Search to determine the solution (we know what most are asking about). There are probably many pages of bitches and fixes. Glad mine came with plain Entune Plus system, but sound quality would probably not bother me anyway.

Have you tested to see if it does it with the volume off? Mine does it but only when I’m accelerating. Based on what I’ve read, it’s related to the wire screen gasket before the throttle body. Going to cut the wires out this weekend to see if it fixes it.

No I don’t get this issue other than when I’m in a phone call using Bluetooth or listening to a talk radio show. Higher volumes it seems to be worse but you can also hear it when volume drops a little. Other than that, I do t get it. Weird. Hopefully someone identifies the issue as you know what the dealership will say....it’s normal o_O

I took it into the dealer probably 2 weeks after I got the truck, the guy couldn't figure out what it was, so he brought over another platinum with the same sound system and sure enough that one did it as well. I honestly think it was just the audiobook because I don't hear it playing music or anything else. Now some people, including myself hear a whistling noise that is different than the one I'm describing, which comes from the air intake. I installed the TRD air intake so I can hear that mostly when I'm accelerating, but it is most definitely a different noise than the one coming from the audiobooks. Honestly after a while it stopped becoming so noticeable, but it was killing me at first because my 2016 civic did not make that sound, so it was like nails on a chalkboard to me. I really want to say that it's just the audio processing by the amp and headunit, and it's probably still there in music, but you can't hear it because of the constant sound and instruments in the background, whereas the audiobooks is just voice and gaps between the words is when you hear it the best.

I plan on upgrading the sound system in the near future, but not because of this anymore, I've always had loud sound systems with deep bass in my cars. To me this sound system is just all around underwhelming, does not get loud enough, no bass and I still think they shouldn't label this as a "premium" sound system.

Thanks for your feedback, I think your spot on. I don’t want to go to dealer and waste my time. I think your right, when radio is on you can’t hear it. I think it’s just plain interference. Doesn’t happen all the time either. Frustrating but maybe it will just go away.

Yeah like I said, I can only hear it on audiobooks, almost sounds like they have a lisp when they pronounce an s. There's no point in taking your truck in, they're either gonna say they can't hear it or they won't know what to do and if they check another jbl system and it does it as well, they're gonna say it's not a problem because they all do it. At this point I just live with it, and it kinda doesn't bother me anymore because I guess I'm used to it. It's, like you said, some kinda of interference, but a nice new sound system will fix that real quick :spending:

Are you using an aux cord at the same time as a charging cable?
Unplug the charging cable and see what happens

    Have you tried this:

Did a google search and ran across this:

Person mentioned on your library page changing the download format from default (AAC) to Format 4 (MP3)

Not sure I understand this as it happens with satellite radio, fm and Apple Music and phone calls.

Trust me I've tried iPhone, Android , carplay, Android auto, blue tooth on both no difference. Ive gone through the scientific method and my conclusion is that it's the system itself lol
