Road salt is used very sparingly here and only recently in Denver Metro. You couldn't find any rust on my 07 after spending 12 years here in CO. Weekly winter pressure wash can be your friend too. Old fart habit....
...as a matter of FACT, I'd bet no CO members here have any rust to speak of on their tunnies as long as the trucks have been sold and used here.

Once I get my new one, it'll be a slow build, but what I want, what I've learned from being on here

Yep, I learned a lot here too. 2nd Tundra build much easier but not on my wallet.

Magnesium Chloride is used here primarily and even though a salt, it's not very corrosive at all, but you do need to get it off. Not good for paint. Living near or on the beach has it's risks. Beautiful and wonderful until a surge hits....

I grew up in CT and then lived in PA for 5 years prior to moving to NC. I have been surrounded by road salt for the majority of my life.

There are more rusted vehicles up north than there are here in coastal NC. Saltwater is bad, don't go on the beach. Otherwise just living here is pretty easy on vehicles.

Even beach driving isn't bad so long as you stay out of the wet sand and water. Salt-x and Amsoil HDMP go a long way towards keeping vehicles nice. Otherwise anything driven on the beach and left untreated ends up in the scrap metal dumpster in 5 years.
