I've seen comments on the forum regarding 89 octane fuel as opposed to 87 regular unleaded. I'm open to considering running a higher grade if performance and fuel economy are improved. Important to add that I tow a 19' GeoPro travel trailer. Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I don't see how it will do anything with the stock tune

The only time you may want to consider using a higher octane would be if you will be towing for a long distance.

Possibly if towing up huge grades. But our motors run so rich I don’t think its 100% needed

I run 89 almost every tank and can attest to the fact that it won't do a thing for economy or performance. The only reason I run it is because the 89 I get has NO ethanol in it.

Except for 2 or 3 tanks, I've almost exclusively ran 91 or 93 in my 2012 5.7 CM since I purchased it 2 years ago this month.
I read back then about something like 10-15 degrees of timing retard on regular vs premium. It sounds right, but is that harmful over time? Who knows.
Within the last month or so I've been running regular 87 for cost savings (I'm on disability right now).
I have not noticed any changes in performance or MPG. I can fill up for $45 vs. $55-$60.

Gas is ridiculous in Cali, I don’t really care about performance, if the gas hit 4.30, I’m going trade in my tundra.

Same reason I run 91 in mine. It's my only option for ethanol free fuel.

What you lose in the trade in will eat into your gas savings for a while. Better off just keeping it. Gas will definitely be over $5 per gallon in ca eventually. Gavin Newsom doesn’t want people driving...
