El Cheapo LED light bar from amazon

I've been scouting around the forum and YouTube for awhile ,looking to get the Behind grill Light bar installed but didn't want to pull a trigger on 1000$+ light from rigid ,since I don't go off-road anyway . I've found light from Amazon made by auxbeam ,pretty reasonable for what I was looking with lot of great review so I bought one to try if not working no biggie only 130$ for curved 42" .Had to drill a couple holes to mount the base is done the rest is adjusting the light to get the beam you like .

If there anything like that to protect them that would be great for the light , I figured if they go bad or damage I can buy 10 more of these for the price of one rigid ,also like I said I am not gonna do off-roading, I don't mean so say anything bad about ridgid if I were to use my truck in that purposes I wouldn't mind spending on rigid light , I think they worth the money

Ya, these.

My lower 30 inch bar is a $90 Amazon special, honest has held up super well for the price. Had it 1.5 years no major issues until recent and it might be my wiring harness. It's spot and flood combo but it's mostly spot, I don't use it much bc the light pattern sucks when I can just use my roof one. NOW either the bar or wiring harness is causing my fuse to MELT, not pop, the thing is melting. Bar isn't even working right now. I'll replace the bar and harness in the spring.

I also got my first my curved 50" for $150 on eBay, it leaked so bad it would have standing water. I worked on it multiple times and never had luck. I took it off, gave it to my cousin, he sealed it left it submerged in the bathtub a couple hours and sold it to a friend for $100.

 

I'd never spend money on a rigid or Baja designs unless I was a pro racer or something. There's a lot of quality brands out there without spending thousands of dollars on a light.

My curved 50" is "domination lighting" brand. I love the appearance and throw pattern, lifetime warranty, decent customer service (bought my dad one for his 4 runner and it was a smidge too big and they let me return it no problem after opening it) and I paid $350 versus $2,000 for the rigid.

 

Now I feel like I need to walk outside and pull the fuse out...

 

Ridgid and Baja are legit ! I have nothing to say again them but agree with you @csuviper. I only share these for people who don't want to spend big bills ,but want a cool off road like truck haha , my self included

 

A neat application of clear silicone around the seams and Lamin-X on the lens may do the trick.

$20 for a clear 2"x30" sheet, they have different colors as well. I would probably put this on any lightbar, cheap insurance, easy to install.

I've had the same one from Amazon in my bumper for about 8 months now. No issues with water, cracking or yellowing so far. I have the same mentality where if I can get at least a year of solid use out of it it would be worth it.

 

I will upgrade to Rigid or Baja at some point. My Chinese made $75 21" is still working fine. Still air tight, no fogging, condensation, lenses clear as day. Been in all kinds of weather and have bounced/shaked the hell out of it. Had it over a year now. Mine does have Cree LEDs but only 3 watts a piece. The high end bars go way beyond in wattage output, more rugged, etc. That's why their price point is higher of course. It's all about budget for me now and whether I need to see ten miles down the road at night.

 

If I do anymore lighting it will be good quality fogs that I can use during everyday driving. I was leaning toward Rigid SAE fogs, how do you like the BD fogs? Too bright for road use?

Yeah, those rear led backups have been pretty good so far. Definitely bright enough to lite up the house across the street when I back up every morning. The light housing seems to be pretty tough. I definitely see Baja Designs in my future for sure. Sometimes it's good to be able to see a long ways when traveling at night in the middle of nowhere with large critters crossing the road.

 

I have been running a cheap Amazon light bar on the front of my 4-wheeler for 3 years. No problems so far and a whole lot cheaper than Rigid. Since my truck sits at the boat launch for days during duck season I went with KC old school round lights hoping no one would rip them off.

 

I happen to be using 4 Apollo Pro round KCs. 2 spot beams and 2 flood beams along with my 21 LED bar. Plenty of light for my use.
