What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

@Casper421 did you end up getting a fridge or are you using a conventional cooler this trip? That's the last piece of camping gear I need, a good cooler.

 

I have the RTIC 65 and it has worked great for me. Condition it before going on a trip and I keep ice for 7+ days.

 

I bought a CSI 52 fridge a few months back from a forum vendor. Used it 3 times before this trip and it works great! No more ice for me!


Edit: I used an RTIC 45 for a few years before buying the fridge. Couldn’t keep ice past 3 days. It was and is fine for a weekend cooler but with 13 days on the road, a fridge was a must imo.

 

Has anyone removed the underside of the rear seats in a DC? I am interested in replacing my 2 8" subs with something bigger but as it is now the 8" subs already hit the plastic on the bottom side. I wanna build something custom to allow a much bigger single 10" in the same storage compartment. I am wondering how much extra space I would get if that part was removed.

 

I bought a dometic fridge a couple weeks back after using ice and a cooler for years. Honestly its a game changer! Yes they are expensive but i love camping and even though a cooler 100 percent works well, a fridge is just so convenient to have. I can have meats and drinks and all sorts of good things that stay perfectly cold, hardly use any energy (I have a solar panel on my roof though) and they are rugged. No more meled ice and soggy food! Also, theres no need to pack ice so you can use a much smaller fridge to store quite a bit of food since there is no wasted space on ice or frozen water bottles. I couldnt go back to a cooler after having this fridge now!

I've been eyeing a couple demo units at work. Might be my Christmas gift to myself haha. They are freaking cool!

 

Not a bad idea! They are so worth it! Food at 35 degrees at all times is pretty awesome!

I ordered up a new brake booster along with the vacuum check valve. Also ordered a new pair of drums and set of shoes. Probably will spend next Saturday getting that in order. I can't wait to drive my truck again.

 

If it's not a pain, you should do a write up on replacing that booster. Did you go OEM?

 

For the booster yeah. Brakes I went Brembo. I'll take pics and write up both if I can.

I have ran Brembo blank rotors on my wifes SUV for a while and those are good. I saw Brembo drums and shoes for less than Toyota so figured I would try them. There are cheaper options for sure but I care about brakes.

 

Well the picture of the beamtechs won’t load for some reason but! My wife got me a new head unit! Replaced a JVC KW-800BT with a Boss Audio BVCP9685A....this only worked because previous owner had installed a Tato wiring interface. Really like the apple play but it seems like this particular unit doesn’t automatically select camera input when put in reverse, I have to back out to main menu then select camera :/ I also lost my steering wheel controls but these are minor inconveniences, oh well it’ll still be nice to have my maps up when I don’t know where I’m going, now all that’s left for me to do is some troubleshooting as to why my back speakers don’t have any output! They didn’t before so I’m sure it’s not the unit, I probably need to look at fuses first! And then to replace interior lights with LEDs!



Okay so lights did work lol also going to be emailing beamtech, fog lights don’t work and when I turn them on highbeams come on hahaha

I think I recall you saying that. I definitely saw somebody mention buying their drums to find them out of round and needed to be turned. That would annoy me.

 

There's a cheap two part.kit.you can get to fix your steering controls from crutchfield. Just give em a call. It's easy to wire.

Well it’s close. Still hasn’t had time to do the bedliner. But it’s almost done. He thinks leave the grill as is. Because Toyota already painted the grill there’s a good chance if they paint it the paint will chip off too easily.

Oil was on sale for $35 per jug. Snagged enough for a few oil changes.

 

Got shoes in the mail

 

Got half way through upgrading my front brake calipers to the power stop 36 kit. Passenger side done.

I cannot get the brake line on the driver side off without breaking the OEM brake line. It is a solid steel tube to the caliper and is rusted to the nut. Is this the part you guys are replacing with braided steel line? Anybody know if this is a part I can get from a local parts store.

 

Replaced a front transfer case output shaft oil seal. Which was good because there was only about a cup of gear lube left in there.

Replaced the center bearing. Old one was completely detached from the rubber.

Still have a vibration on acceleration. (This is also after doing a tie-rod end and CV axle a couple days ago)

But I discovered the rearmost U joint is shot....and one of the ones on the front driveshaft is seized....so I'm not freaking out yet.
