Looks so good, that's a beautiful shop. Good choice on the barn doors, very unique and functional. I'm jealous man, your entire property would be a dream come true for me, as i am sure it is to you.

It’s not all it’s cracked up to be man, seriously.
After $1,000.00+ quotes just to weed our flower beds, $2,000.00 to re-seal the patios, the talks of selling have come up. I just can’t keep up myself. I even had my kids weeding all summer long.
With the equity we built the past 5 years, we could purchase a very, very, nice new house in town, and have zero house payment. It’s the smart, wise, and business thing to do.
But I am a family man, and this was our dream for our kids.
The property part isn’t soo bad, it’s the gigantic landscaped yard and flower beds surrounding the house that kills the “dream home” bug.
I wish I could re-do it. And cut my yard/beds into at least 1/2 to a 1/4 of what they are. I just spent $500.00 in fall weed killer and fertilizer. Just because you can have a nice big gigantic yard, doesn’t mean you should.
    :(
Hopefully that helps someone else out in the future. :fingerscrossed:

That's a lot of work to do yourself that's for sure. And paying someone to do stuff you could do yourself always hurts. I wouldnt blame you for selling. If you didn't have to work you would be good to go, but then you couldn't afford to pay the bills lol. Definitely earned more respect by just laying all that out there.

Yeah, if I didn’t work it would be pristine lol!! It’s overwhelming, and taxing on a person (and a marriage) that always has been a “DIY” person. I built all the beds, and spread 1000 yards of dirt to seed the lawn when we built with my Kubota. Planting every tree/shrub/flower/grass by hand. Nobody helped me. Maintaining.....is a different story.
Shit just doesn’t stop growing around here! LMAO! The term “grow like a weed” has an entirely new meaning to me!
I sprayed 15 gallons of weed killer on Sunday because it was the only dry day in the forecast for a week.
It rained 30 minutes later unexpectedly and washed it all away. o_O
I took half the day off today, to do it all over again. Thankfully it hasn’t rained since I sprayed. o_O

Your garage barn doors look great!

Question for you. It looks like your barn door track is mounted flush with the door casing. If it is, your barn doors will hit the top of the stone cap. Not trying to be the bearer of bad news but I think you need to add an extension on the door casing and push your track out further. Otherwise you will have to cut back your masonry stone cap. 01C90F97-E7E0-4366-BA42-769FD300059F.jpg

See on this barn I built an extension for the track and the upper door casing to let the doors clear the stone.

Ha! You ARE good!! That was the case, and my rock guy was trying to talk me out of the water caps because of that reason, but I wanted to match the house exactly so I said install them.
The interior of the door casing has a 2x8 or 2x10 that shows how far out the door will hang. We had to use 2 or 3 2x10’s or 2x12’s up top where the rail is mounted to bump the door out to clear the water ledges.
You can see in this pic where the interior of the door casing protrudes out further than the trim that mates up against the stone so the door will just barely clear the stone ledge. I plan on using the door guides (with a alignment wheel) at the bottom to help guide the door down it’s path when opening.
What I did screw up on was the flashing! Twice! LOL! I don’t think it will clear the door. I’ll have to rig something up.

Those pics are deceiving LOL. I just ran out to check, it’s good. :D

The steel structure for the barn is moving along at a good pace. I had all the center trench drains cleaned and covered with 3/4” cdx covers to protect them during construction. My timber trusses and beams should arrive in about two months.

Tomorrow is a day I’ve been looking forward to for a while now. The main center elevated cupola is going to be set in place with two cranes tomorrow. 81CA9432-2AD5-4ABE-A48E-16FE3D2EEB53.jpg

After 18 months of a large Bendpak sitting in my garage I decided to put my lift together this past weekend. It’s a 14,000lb extended length with the rolling bridge jacks. I guess now I’ll have to epoxy coat my floor. Maybe another 18 months. Lol

Wow this is amazing. I could not even fathom what these people are spending on their "little horse farm". The scale of this project is enormous for private buildings, amazing work as always.
