I have never been a fan of HID lights mostly because I am usually on the receiving end of them. I did used to run my LED bar on the roads when driving late at night and there was little or no traffic making sure to turn it off before other vehicles would catch the full force of it. I have a buddy who works at a local Light company who can get me a pretty good deal on a set-up like this.
    HIDs.jpg

It looks a little blue in the pictures for my liking but not sure how it would be in real life as it appears to match the LED strips in the headlights.

The details can be found on there facebook page here: Thoughts? Opinions?

As the days are getting shorter up here I am finding myself in the dark more and more often....Maybe someone could she a little light on the situation....sorry.

I have always thought HID's look great, but I have never installed aftermarket HID's. I don't see what the down side would be, maybe some reliability issues?

Just a few, more to come
I've been hit and miss with hids. Been through several kits over the years, from my experiences the brightness is great to have but the kits can be unreliable. Bulbs burn out (can't just buy one at the corner auto parts store) as do the ballasts.
I've had PnP kits and full projector converted headlights. Running hids in reflector housings has been frowned upon for the glare at oncoming but these new tundras really do seem to have a more projector - like cutoff so maybe they'd be okay in the reflector housing in this case. A projector retro would certainly be the proper way to run hids

Agreed. If you end up going with HIDs do it right with projectors, whether you retro your stock headlights or change the housings out. Don't just stick HID bulbs in the stock reflective bowls as it causes the light to scatter and you end up blinding everyone in front of you, especially in a truck. Not to mention its also illegal in some states.

I am the proud owner of a beautiful spectre blue 2006/7844A Toyota Tundra 4X4 Double Cab SR5 V8 which I intend to take to my grave with me (quite literally, if it will permit me, I would like to slide right out the bed and into the hole). Unfortunately, ten years on the headlamps have started to fog over on their interior sides, which means I almost certainly will have to replace them before trying to score another Virginia state inspection sticker later this year. I can purchase replacements for the original headlights (OEM part nos. 81170-0C031 and 81130-0C031) easily enough practically anywhere, but I'm figuring I might as well upgrade and get halogens or LEDs if they're available. If you have experience upgrading from stock Toyota headlight assemblies, or know where I might be able to buy the upgrade kits, I'd sure appreciate whatever data, wisdom, or both that you care to share. Thank you for your help and advice. Jessi

I install both of them where I work. Led's can get you the same lumens as an hid. Phillips makes some nice conversion kits

Thanks. Do you by any chance work in the Northern Virginia area?
