Well I will agree it is under powered, but "crap" I will not. They are built very well and we have had zero engine issues other than the first 3 months they came out, there were some phantom codes that would show up. Now do I want one, no. But I would take one over any Chrysler, Chevy, Ford, Ram any day.

I was just relaying the message. I have zero first hand experience with that diesel engine. I just know Chrysler and Ram aren't known for reliability so, when they pass on an engine it is saying something.

does anyone else think some of these numbers do not make sense??

440hp/580 tq out of an NA gas is great but on the high end of what I think is realistic (tq wise at lease). Not that it has the weights, but 7.5 to 60 seems awful slow for that power rating. What i also do not understand is that the hybrid next to it costs less and does not produce any more power.

That schedule just doesn't seem to be consistent enough to make a choice (IMO of course).

I'm just surprised all six wheels are not the same. The fronts are obviously not capable of being mounted dually style as in the rear.

You don't need spares or to be able to rotate the tires when all the truck has to do is back off a trailer then drive back on it a week later

This was a SEMA concept truck built in 2007 or 2008. It does have a diesel, but if I remember correctly its an Isuzu straight 6.

EDIT- Here's an article dated May 29 2008

It's going to be a hybrid with diesel like numbers. Personally I think it will be better than a diesel.

A hybrid truck would be great... ...until you have to climb a long, steep grade and the battery runs out of juice. Then you're running on just the inadequately small gas engine power while VW Microbuses shout abuse at you as they pass.

Ill rule out an American Toyota diesel. Why? Because Toyota has diesel all over the world except in America. Emissions!

I'll believe that a diesel Tundra exists when I see it...

From my understanding it is going to be a twin turbo setup like the Ecoboost which is more than capable of pulling up a steep hill. The hybrid system will allow it to stay out of the boost when accelerating which is when turbos suck the most gas. But the engine should be functional on its own.

I ran into an employee that works at Corporate Toyota in Frisco. His license plate, on 2019 tundra 1794, said "Manufacturer" above the license plate numbers. I asked him how he like it and he went on to tell me where he worked and that he is on the future design team. He said I won't believe the 2021 Tundras and that they are a complete redesign. He said they'll show up late 2020 and sell as 2021 models.

I asked him "diesel"? He said "I can't say". Then I started asking all kinds of question, each time with "I can't say"? The question/answer game went back and forth until I gave up.

I'm happy with the one I have for now. I probably won't be in the market for another truck for several more years.

I don't care what's in it, I just want the damn thing here so these speculation threads can come to an end!
