Did you rejet your carbs with the pod filters? Ive always read with these old bikes that your just better off with the stock airbox. I have a 82 gs550 ive been trying to rebuild but since ive had kids that was put on the back burner unfortunately. I want to dive back into it soo bad. Nice looking bike by the way.

I have the stock Air box cover, it says 650 electric start on it. the stock filters and parts are gone. Im at 1400ft in Elevation and have had the same jetting set up since highschool and it runs great. Its almost stright piped the stuff in the baffle is long gone.

Going from the stock air box to the K&N's I havent really noticed a difference. but I have only had it running with this setup for the last two days, other then that its been sitting for years.

Grabbed some new hardware and carb intake boots.
Also repacked the muffler. It's had nothing,it still sounds good , just a little softer but mean as fuck.

Also a picture of one of my uncle's bikes he lost in the fires in paradise CA. His Triumph RIP.

That's a sweet bike. I like the mostly original look. I have a 77 xs750 that's still in pieces from maybe 12 years ago haha. Probably should look into getting it running again. It had a clutch issue and I was having hard time figuring it out. Anyway that's a nice bike and I'm sure you will continue to enjoy it. Rubber side down!
