Rough Country V2 Rear Monotube Shocks for 6 inch lifts

I purposely waited a few months before posting my thoughts. I felt it important to make sure that I had used these shocks for daily driving and for towing as well. I tow a small travel trailer weighing approx. 3000 pounds fully loaded every other weekend.
Previous to this install, I’ve had two other sets of rear shocks on my truck (ProComp ProRunner and ProComp ES9000). The ProRunner shocks were way too stiff and the ES9000’s were way too soft, so I was in search of something in between. I’ve included pictures of both sets of those shocks that have been removed.
Straight out of the box, these Rough Country Monotube Shocks look sweet, brushed aluminum with black tips! I’m sure they won’t look good for long though, lol. These particular shocks are for 6 inch lifts. They mount body up which gives it kind of a different look. You can mount these without a shock boot, but I chose to use my old boots.
During install, I initially secured the bottom bolt mount first then tried to compress it but was unable to get the amount of leverage needed. Plan B was to attach the top mounting hardware of the shock first. It then required what I guess you could call a bicep curl to bring the lower end to the bottom bolt mount. The entire install was completed without the need to lift the truck or remove the tires.
Besides the good look of these shocks, they perform very well. During a recent 700 mile trip, while towing the trailer, I checked the temperature of the shocks and both were barely warm to the touch. Daily driving and unloaded were also very smooth. Not too stiff and not too soft. I don't believe Rough Country V2 Rear Monotube shocks have been out for very long. I'm not promoting this particular product simply stating that they are another option for those with 6 inch lifts. Just wanted to post my thoughts because I haven’t seen any other threads about this brand and model of shocks.

Glad to hear they worked good. I may have considered them if I hadn't put on FOX last winter.

That’s what I did too. Trying not to spend thousands on a suspension again. Coachbuilder pro kit is working fine for me.
