This past week I went to Toyota in Katy, Tx to get a coolant flush and to check out the new Supra and Army green Tundra( which is sweeter in person).

I spoke to a rep there. He said he doesn’t know anything about a hybrid Tundra. However, he said that he did hear about a diesel Tundra.

    Is this true?

I read online Toyota will do a diesel 310hp/550 ft lb torque.

Don’t know how valid the diesel talk is but seems pretty cool?...

    Be safe y’all

I hope its true! There have been rumors about a diesel Tundra for a few years now, but nothing real yet. It would make sense for Toyota to compete with the Dodge EcoDiesel and the diesel F150

When I bought my truck, I spoke to the salesman about Toyota not offering diesel vehicles in the US.
He said, with US strict emission policy, Toyota is unlikely to offer Diesel vehicles in US soil anytime soon. They're avoiding the Volkswagen Diesel controversy.

Yes sir, I told him I hope Toyota keeps the v8 and brings back the TRD supercharger(blower) option backed by warranty. He laughed and then I asked if there is a hybrid and he said “I know a diesel will be an option”....

If they do put a diesel in the truck then I hope they make a true 3/4 ton tundra. Dream truck! 3/4 ton crewmax tundra with a 6.5ft bed

I highly doubt it, this rumor has been going on for years. Mike sweers has explained why a diesel won't happen and it comes down to cost and Toyota not selling enough tundras compared to the big 3.

Nissan scraped the Cummins. I could see Toyota doing it right.

Definitely, Ford bringing back bronco. Maybe a new Fj would be cool.

Well, people laughed about the Supra saying it would never come back and it did so I would never totally rule out a diesel.

This sounds kind of dickish but, if you want a Toyota diesel you better move to CentAm or SouthAm.

My wife just got back lastnight and for 13 days she had a LC Prado. 95% of the vehicles in Panama are diesel.

Yeah it sucks no more diesel Titans. They are really made well and we have not had any major problems with the diesel line at all. I am a Service Manager for Nissan in the NC mountains, so we see them come in worked pretty hard on either farms or mountain driving.

I never understood why Nissan opted to place a Cummins motor in their trucks to begin with. Especially when they have a commercial line division by UD. The diesels off those trucks are sold in the USA. They four cylinders and six cylinders diesels in box trucks. Toyota owns the Hino division again great motors. If either brand stuck one of their brand engines in their trucks, it would be a win....win situation.

I would be interested for sure, would be a little concerned about the emissions crap though, reliability and such. The whole reason I buy a Toyota.

    Absolutely no chance......

The diesel in a Nissan did not make it at all. I have not seen a single Diesel engine in the half tons since the big 3 came out with a diesel for a half ton. Albeit, some are brand new and not a chance to get out on the market.

Honestly, truck buyers are completely different animal these days and could care less for diesels. Half the owners of half tons do not know what engine is in their trucks. They only know it is an ecoboost because it sounds cool and "green".

The Cummins was a weird fit and did not provide a benefit over the gas version in the Titan. Diesel is .80 more per gallon around here so no benefit like there use to be. In all honestly I am a diesel guy. I have diesel trucks, lawn mowers, tractors, etc.... I would not waste my time with a 1/2 ton diesel.

I'd settle for the ability to get a Tundra in army green.

Pretty sure Nissan scrapped their diesel because that Cummins had a lot of reliability problems.

For all the reasons mentioned above I highly doubt a diesel Tundra will become a reality.

More looking like a TT V6 with Hybrid assist will be an up trim option.

<--- Toyota Sales Rep Here -- NO DIESEL EVER -- Let this shit die already.

Hybrid 100% Confirmed - Story over folks. They just revealed the news officially to the GM's and Dealer Principals last week in Arizona.
2 Years however until its release - along with the new 4Runner... which surprise, will also come in a Hybrid.
