I had a 1969 FJ55, it was a lot of work. So I sold it.

I own a 14. They are fun rigs. 2010-14 is 2nd gen with a dual vvti motor. Same suspension and body on all years. They share almost all drivetrain parts with 4runners of same year. 100% made in Japan. Fuel pumps can fail around 100k. Lack of oil changes can cause vvti issues, pull the oil cap and look for sludge. Tons of them are up to 300k with no problems on fjcruiserforum.

Wife loves ours so much that she wouldnt even entertain trading it in on our tundra. I bought it new and put 100k on it without a single issue. Lots of trips to Alaska and across the country loaded to the gills with roof top tent and gear. Excellent ride, put a 2” lift and 275s on it and have fun.

I have heavy tires, bumpers, winch, full skids, roof rack and a heavy foot and I get 15mpg.

FJ wins. Wish I kept it. Family needed more backseat. Crazy tho I get same mpg in the tundra. the FJ did not like the lift and 34s. Hopefully one day I'll buy one for a weekend toy

That’s the final edition isnt it? How much they want for it?

They are great cars. Pretty reliable, light on power if you put big tires on them but they get the job done. I have one of those wheels in my garage if you buy it for a spare.

They are going to want over 30k for that. It will feel under powered compared to your tundra, but they are great rigs.

If you drive it and like it I would probably jump on it. Then get another tundra in a few years. I think the FJs are going to continue being collectible.

They offered me 28k for a 14 with 96k on it. That one got a lot more $ unless the seller was a push over.

To put it in perspective I bought mine new for 33k in late 2013(my14). So it barely dropped in value over 6 years and 96k. They definitely retain their value.

@Rica25 I really do miss my FJ. It had less power than the Tundra but unless you tow, need the bed, or need the large back seat I don’t think you’ll miss the power. They are just so fun to drive. And if you ever go offroad you’ll be sold. Mud, sand, rocks, it didn’t matter. I only got stuck once and a Jeep snatched me out. And they videoed it lol.

If it was me I’d buy that FJ and keep the Tundra. If you hate the FJ I promise you can sell it for what you paid for it. Could maybe even make money if you get a deal like you’re talking. If you love it (you will) then go ahead and sell the tundra. You’re in a win win
