    Lots of bike thievery growing up. We wouldn't ride too far alone, knowing some who were knocked off and taken from. Also learned to have a "look out" at 7/11 while playing video games. Local bike shops would let us bring our bikes inside to prevent theft. As we got older we knew some of the bandits and bloodied a few noses. :devil:
    I knew many kids who were given their nice bikes. I actually pieced my bikes together over time with Lawn mowing and birthday money; so it was always locked up, inside, or a tight grip on it.
    Sold my bike (Hutch) as I turned 16 for good money to a friend's little brother; girls were liking cars way more than bikes.....

    My first pellet rifle. 1956 .22 Sheridan Blue Streak and just as powerful as any powder charged .22 in it's day.

    Edit: In Texas, (Ft. Worth) it was considered a toy and worthy six year old boys received it after demonstrating good rifle safety habits. [​IMG]

    Our bikes were our lives as kids. I delivered newspapers in the neighborhood and one family asked me to deliver to their do-nut shop which was a ways off of my route. They always gave me a free do-nut when I came to collect for the month.
    One evening my bike disappeared out of the garage ~ we never locked anything up which turns out to be a big mistake. Months later the kid from the do-nut shop got found out ~ the whole crawlspace of their home was full of stolen bicycle parts !
    Live and learn . . .
