I'm very interested also in seeing your retro headlights get completed, as this will be my next project it seems and I've been in email talks with @eledobleu
I'm hoping to apply the similar smoked look of my tails onto my headlights to keep the overall flow similar from front to back.

Sounds like you guys are after the same thing. Nice clean flowing look!

Holy hell, now I have to figure out where all these wires go, ha. Guess this is not a project I'll be doing tonight, yikes.

I don't think running a smoked/tinted front headlamp would be allowed here in California. Surely would get me a ticket.

I really think the clear or smoke tail lights would look great with these. I think I'll probably go with the smoked version when I pull that trigger....

Without seeing it in person, I would guess it would be like how my VLed switchbacks are installed. One of the plugs will tie into your OEM wiring harness, the other end into the ballast then out of the ballast to the relay and headlamps. Looks like there's a fuse tap for one of your functions. Probably best to wait until Leo responds!

On a side note, looking at the LED strip, I doubt there's gonna be a perfect match with any of the Spyder tail lamps. The strip looks more clear than the Spyder strips. However, having said that the smoked ones will darken the strips abit too.

That's why I was thinking the smoked version might be better to hide the led bar a little. But then again, it's not like they are side by side, you could get away with it.

Guess I'll just have to wait until my retros make it home and then decide.

Post some pics of your retros when you get them on and working! I look forward to seeing them.

Nick, if memory serves me correctly ... I believe I read somewhere that Leo said he could brighten up the Spyder strips. Just don't know if he only meant the front ones.

Youll be happy to know that its really simple. I would think they are the same style as beamers. Dont take my word for it but most HID setups are alike.

The hardest part will be finding a decent spot for the ballasts.
Lets see if this pdf works.

Well, sad to report.. I got home and unpacked the other light, only to find that the housing where the level motor is, was cracked. In talking with Leo, we can only assume this was caused in shipping, so had to file a claim with UPS. Sucks I have to send them back, but definitely don't want busted headlights. Hopefully it wont take long, but guess I'll be waiting longer to get a new pair. Blah....

Oh Wes, I'm sorry to hear about this ... It will get fixed I'm sure. You mind telling me how you packed your lamps and if they were returned the same way. I shipped mine pretty much in foam wrapped around by two boxes (the boxes my Spyders were shipped in).

In a box from original Toyota lights. Bubble wrapped and added paper for support. Not really sure what happened, but there was another piece of the same headlight that was crack. UPS tossing boxes around.

Autoanything just had them on sale, I think 30% off, may still be going on or may come back?
Unfortunately I am a bit familiar with how fragile they are. When shipped, these headlights can't move at all or they can break when getting tossed by the carrier. I would do the shake test, if you shake the box and those babies are moving, there's not enough packing materials. I made a diagonal wall in the middle of the box to keep each headlight in their own area, extra cardboard (thick stuff) on top, bottom, and inside perimeter. Wrap each headlight individually then put in and place as much packing material around the wrapped light as you can. The mounting tabs are fragile, especially in cold temps!

Just shipped my OEM headlamps out to Leo as well... very excited, and while patience is a virtue, I will do my best to sit idly and await their return lol.
Wes, thats a buzz kill to read about the damage. I hope it's all resolved quickly man.

@PR_02 Congrats on receiving yours! Looks good!
