Several Questions

First, I got my 2015 Tundra today. I'm pretty sure I'm going to love this truck. Took my dodge RAM to a Dodge dealer and bought the Tundra used from their lot. My truck was ticking pretty bad from the Hemi engine. Was afraid they (being a dodge dealer) would say they couldn't give me much for my RAM due to the engine ticking. Well....they didn't say a thing about it and neither did I. I thought I did pretty good on the trade.

Anyhow, the Tundra didn't come with 2 keys or key fobs. Where can I get a key fob and ignition key? I've been looking on Amazon and they don't seem to be too expensive. But they will both need to be programmed. The guy at the dealer said lock smiths can program them. Is that true or does the dealer need to program them?

There are some things on the dash that I don't know what they are for. I looked in the manual and I think they have to do with the cargo light. But the manual is not real explanatory. The one on the far right that has a dial, with light picture on it, I can't figure out what that is for at all. No where in the manual could I find it.

Where I think it's for the cargo lights, the one on the very bottom is pretty obvious to where you can turn it off. But the one that is on the top to the right of the mirror adjustment, where it says door on/off? What does that do? I'm attaching a pic of it here.

Your going to love your truck.

The dial to the right with the numbers is your headlight leveler.
When you tow your rear end may squat, this will help you lower your headlights so you do not blind oncoming traffic.

The switch with door on it is your door light settings.

Flip all the way up to turn on lights in cab, middle setting will turn lights on when doors are open, and all the way down will keep it all off.

 

Your interior lights, on or off and door means they turn on when a door is opened.

Nice color! It sold me too once I saw it in person! The Tundra is a true truck...the 1500 Rams are as comfortable as a Honda Ridgeline...more car than truck...you will not be disappointed mainly on the fact that you will see the service department far less if ever now!

 

Congratulations, i picked up my 2016 up 5 weeks ago and i love it, you will enjoy it for sure, welcome and now you have a real truck, btw the color is nice too.

A locksmith should be able to cut and program a new key for you as long you have an original key.
Since you have a 2015, your key is a G-Chip key. If youre going to get a blank key, make sure its a G chip key or upgrade to the flip style all in on key.

I just received this one off of Amazon. I've got a local mobile locksmith coming out on Tuesday since I am recovering from surgery to cut and program. It was way cheaper than the dealership.

I called the dealer and they said my truck has 2 keys and can't be updated to a single key. Hmmmmm. Did you do this and did it work?

The dealer will only recite the data they get from their higher ups. The trucks are capable of so much more. Check with some of your local locksmiths to make sure they have the equipment to program the keys, then pick the way you want to go.
