What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

i keep debating retro or try the Philips LEDs (pricey, but ive had really good luck with philips lighting)

probably try the philips first and if i dont like em return em.

 

They are actually pretty nice. I haven't gotten flashed yet and the back of the cars in front of me don't look too lit up. Much much better than my cheapo hids on my other truck. I'm surprised with the beam pattern.

 

If that had radio controls on it,I'd be all over that swap.

 

radio controls will fit it. you just need the other airbag cover. 4runners had the black one with controls.


i wonder how a black wheel will fit in these trucks. i have a newer toyota wheel id love to use.

 

The wheel off another tundra or a different model. You go junk yard or new?

 

I bought it from another member here. I had a WTB up in the 1st gen parts section for quite a while. It came off an 02 tundra, pretty sure it was a limited.

 

If Chris says the retrofit is better I believe him. But it seems like the LEDs keep improving. That picture @SoCalPaul posted looked good. I'll test mine tonight in the dark and report back.

 

What brand of fuel tanks are those

 

Scepter. They're the military grade version, called MFC (military fuel can) and are among the best cans on the market. I've seen people actually use them as traction aids. LOL. They're used by the Canadian Forces and other militaries around the world, I think the US military as well. The strong plastic moulded containers will barely flex under pressure, keep in mind they sit on the back and tops of vehicles in the Middle Eastern sun. They're made of plastic rather than metal so that even in a fire, they'll melt and slowly let out fuel rather than explode and turn into shrapnel. They'll also float if accidentally dropped into water and the handles allow you to carry 2 per hand making transport easier. The gaskets used are either Viton or Rubber and very thick to avoid having the gasoline fumes pressurize and escape while theyre sitting in your car. The really cool thing is that they're spec'd to pour their entire contents in under a minute.

Damn, that sucks. If I was close to the border, I'd offer to pick them up and ship them down to you guys. Maybe another Canuck is able to do that?

I just had another thought too. Don't you guys have weird laws regarding fuel cans, or is it just California that does?

I know for sure California does, we're weird about anything cool.

Out gas cans need spouts that require 4 hands to pour gas into a vehicle, and shall spill no less than 10 ounces of fuel on your paint in the attempt, at least that's what it feels like.

 

I'm anxious to see how you like these. A guy on Instagram was having the same issue as you and it was his transfer case. He just replaced it. First time I've heard that one.

Get a No-Spill brand or an Eagle can. Both are very good and actually don't spill anything.

I need this in my life. Where did you tap into for the power, or did you run all the way up to your battery?

 

I flex tested this past Thursday, I thought I had it dialed until a little trip to Southern Utah.... Apparently more trimming is required.

 

I ran 12awg from the battery down the frame. Also powers the new bed led strips.

 

I’ll see what I can do. I just converted my truck to have radio controls. It’s just 3 wires I had to add to the radio harness and switch the airbag cover

 

What size tires/ what trimming have you don't so far?
