That was pretty much right after I drove home from the dealer. (CPO)
I should ask what they used because mine need a do-over too after a trip and a couple of washes.
I should browse the Detailing section and see what might last longer.

Lemme know what you come up with please. I bought some detailing stuff for the interior plastic and vinyl from Mothers and didn't care for it. Took it back and just went back to Armorall like I've used for the past 45 years.

I don't hate chrome, but it does remind me of when I was high school (early 2000's) when people used chrome overlay on everything they could. Now I have a jaded mindset about it.

I just ordered some plastic care stuff from Shine Supply so I’ll see how that works out.
Whatever the dealer used inside was too shiny on the dash -> the black on the mirrors dulled after a couple of washes.

Picked this up today. It looks good after putting it on the plastic. It did clean off the bug juice on the bumper and the mirrors. Not sure how it will hold up.

I like a touch of chrome, keeping my chrome bumper ends and grill/hood bulge. I actually like the grill on my SR5 more than I like the pro grill.

My 7lb Toy is awesome too!

Like...he can't really fight or save my life or even beat up a cat (they love him though), but if a leaf blows across the yard the whole house will know it. But he's also introduced us to the whole neighborhood. We've lived there for almost 10 years and I'd only spoken to a couple people that didnt live in my cul de sac. He's so ridiculously cute everyone that sees him wants to give him a pet so we've met most everyone now.

I dont mind the chrome bumper ends. Painted ones just take a beating from road debris. Anything above the bumper ends would have to go. Fortunately for me that was just the grille and an easy fix.

What's the process for painting over the chrome bumper found on the earlier 2nd generation trucks?

My tacoma had chrome rims and I wasn't mad at it.

I bought this truck all black because it came like that.

If it had chrome on it I wouldn't have been mad at that either.

Whatever is stock and I buy it means I liked it.

A few days late! I forgot to mention my Grand Daddy Had 5 trucks like that Whites and K-Whoppers if I remember correctly. He had a coal hauling company, they would take coal from the mines to the nearby power plants around Kittaning, Butler and somewhere else. Digging that PB!

    Hate it.

Its hard to keep clean and is too shiny. I think the market for chrome is dying off now that the high end models of vehicles are coming with color matched bumpers.

The market's probably dying off as us old geezers that remember the days of "If it don't go, chrome it!" shuffle off the mortal coil. However, as is the case with all fads, in a few years the market will be flooded with color matched everything and someone will wake up, shout "Chrome!", and the cycle will repeat.

History does tend to repeat itself..

I think GM did an amazing job on their trucks with color matching especially the midnight edition. My other truck is a 2016 Duramax but the only way to get colored matched bumpers/grill was the Z71 package will also added a rougher ride due to the stiffer suspension. I opted for the 4x4 LTZ and will color match stuff later on down the road.

Interested in this as well. While I had no problem with all the chrome on my truck when I bought it, I am finding that a lot of the mods I've done/want to do, involve getting rid of it.

Being a "younger guy" who works in the hot rod industry, I prefer the blacked out look simply because I don't feel right chroming out something new. Every vehicle that I sell parts for (50's-80's Muscle cars) is chromed out, I prefer color. Don't get me wrong, when we buy a Chromed out lowered C10, Or Mustang for R&D here at work I drool like crazy...But, when a newer chev 1500 shortbox rolls in that paint matched and blacked out I also feel like it just wouldn't look right with a bunch of chrome on it.

Powder coating would be a better option. I've seen guys sandblast, prime and then paint with good results.

I'm old (47) and just done with crome, the 90's I had crome dimond plate all over my old Ford single cab. It sounds weird on a site about Tundras where most of us de-chrome somewhat but I also like to be different and not full of stock crome, 95%+ of Tundras are not on forums and Facebook groups and stay with stock crome all their lives.

Oh that's a bad ass ride. I guess my days of doing mods are over. I might try a sway bar or some better shocks and maybe a new stereo thingy. I sold a friend of mine a '76 Sportster back in '88 for $2300. Over the years he put around $25K in it to keep it running and adding chrome and working with polished aluminum. 10 years ago my daily driver was a C5 CV. Then a G37. Got out of the suburban neighborhoods and got me a truck. My wife says that no real Texan doesn't have a pick up and that's how I'm assimilating into the culture coming from the redneck south into Tejas.:D

42 years old, first truck at 16 was an 87 Nissan Hardbody standard cab, chrome front and rear bumpers. Every truck after that; 95 Nissan 4x4 extended cab, 97 Dodge Dakota, 98 Tacoma, 00 F-150 supercab (shoulda kept it), 03 F150 super crew, 05 Z71, 94 Yota 4x4....ALL HAD CHROME.

Time for something different! Love my "no chrome" look.

I like some chrome.. Bumpers and such. Limited did it right. I have color match on rear. Bugs and chips clear off well on my mirrors and bumper/grill. The Lexus has chip damage. As long as the chrome isn't added like the cheap ass Kragen stuff, It looks good. Not ready for billet grills again though

I will say that the chrome gets less sandblasted from road debris than the painted front ends. That said... the face on modern trucks is just too big to have all that chrome on there.
