i have the 4 light kit, I'm tryin to get it hooked into entry light wires(light blue and light brown), when I hooked the pos and neg into corresponding wires it blew my fuse. Why is it not working? I'm not an electrician and these things come with no instructions for this route, only cig lighter and straight battery hook up, I want them to just come on with door open. There's a set of fixed wires and the ones you plug in to run to battery, I'm using the fixed ones to try to hook up, maybe wrong set? Thanks for all help

I have the OPT7 in my truck. If you wanna shoot me the wiring you have done I can take a look for you. If you're using the addafuse, just make sure you're plugging into a 10 and not a 15AMP.

Thanks y'all for replies. My wiring is basic, I had it plugged in lighter, and all worked fine. I cut the entry light off and tried to tie into it and bang, gonna hookem up after I find blown fuse then pull fuse and wire them up then replace fuse, see if that helps. Should I undo the negative battery terminal? I didn't think it was a big thing since it's such a low voltage or wattage.

Thanks @csuviper for links, they helped bigly

I'm assuming you are using the Addafuse they include in the box? If so which fuse are you connected to?

No add a fuse, I'm using the aux wire, if I added it to the battery then it would be on the whole time instead of just when I enter, right?

Correct. The alternative option would be locating the fuse for your door/dome lights in the CJB and running the addafuse.

So here's how I have mine set up. I wanted lights running by ignition, and the option of them turning on white when I open the doors. So the power is tapped into a powered by ignition fuse (so the lights run as long as the trucks auxillary power is turned on). The Aura box should have a secondary set of naked wires for the dome override - I simply tapped those wires to the small pink and blue wires as you have. Now, when the truck is on the lights turn on, however, if the doors open/or i unlock the truck the LEDS come on as white.

From what I can see in your pictures, the power line isn't connected to your Aura controller box. That is how the whole system is powered, so you need auxillary power of some sort running to that. Easiest way to do that is using the fuse taps they include in their kit.

After that you can turn the lights off so they only come on when the doors are opened.

Ok I think I gotcha, so if I run that extra wire for battery and plug aux cables as I do then it should work? Am I missing power? I was thinking the entry light would do it for power? Also thanks for this info

lol no worries. It threw me for a loop when I first connected it just because I figured it was enough power as well. However, it definitely requires an auxiliary power source. I connected mine to an open fuse in the fuse box located below your dash. The only requirement is that you the 10amp fuse in the addafuse and done doubleup:thumbsup:

Here's where the fuse box is.

Ok, got it hooked up and runnin. Went with the add a fuse and said F it. I had it wired up with the entry but it wouldn't turn off from white, even after allotted time. I would've liked it to do the white when I opened the door but I'd have to run to the hood fuse box, didn't like doin it the first time with light bar. Thanks again for all the help guys, I feel somewhat electrician like now

This is a really old thread, but does anyone have any tips/pictures of a good place to mount these under the seats for the rear?
Got this kit and I can't really figure out a good place to put the strips under the seats.
