Yukon?

 

Yeah. And nitro gears front. I had a local deal on a set of Yukon so I got them. Couldn’t get it for the front soon enough so I had my builder get me nitro as he got deals on that brand lol.

 

Copy. I’ve heard that Yukon is “better” than Nitro, do you have any input or thoughts?

 

Imo. Nitro is better has they are consistent with their gear set. They all have a magically K stamp on them.

This is the stamp I look for before buying Yukon because they tend to buy gears from x amount of companies when they run short and throw them in their box.

You can google Yukon stamping and see that they rebox a lot.

Addicted Offroad

 

Threw the MBQuart in the dash yesterday morning after work. It made my cheap Kenwood speakers louder and punchier but of course, there is only so much 6.5" speakers can do. Needs more cowbell. Will need to add more low end cowbell courtesy of a sub and amp.

 

Tested the new LED's this morning in the dark for the first time. They are BRIGHT! I love the color, much more modern. There are some gaps where I am missing coverage so I need to adjust them today when I get home.

I wish @Professional Hand Model would return so I can ask him about this picture. It looks like he used his OEM dust covers.

The part that I circled below on his picture, is that the knob for adjusting the bulbs vertically?

 

Hopefully you have better luck with adjustment. I tried several times and couldn't get the LEDs to give a uniform pattern so I went back to halogen.

 

I believe that is the adjustment you're looking for. You can actually reach it from above when the headlight are installed if you use a flathead screwdriver and push on the notches in the gear.

*Which LED's did you test? I'm curious to hear your opinion on the katanas and Dark's. I'm kind of leary about a fan running all the time to cool them.

 

Same here. Leds in the stock and aftermarket housings were crap! Retrofit for the win!!

 

I don't have much to compare this to. Only the halogens that came in the truck. I'll give an honest answer once I get them adjusted. They didn't seem bad today.

I keep hearing this but I don't know what it means. What exactly did you do?

 

Basically you turn your stock reflector housings into projectors. Much better light output and beam.

 

I use a long #2 Phillips screwdriver to adjust the headlights. You don't have to push, just turn them.

 

These are my Beamtechs. I'm very happy with them. I like that they're fan-less.

 

Rolled over 180,000 kilometers today. That's 111,846 miles in Freedom Units.

 

That is what mine looked like and chose to use Simply Speaker Foam Kits. Enjoyed the time spent and turned out like new I'm happy to say. However they will be coming out in the future once a new Head Unit choice is made.

My 2002 turned over 127,000 miles last night.

My son was driving my truck for about 6 weeks after his VW Fahrenheit or whatever took a dump, and before he bought his 2019 Hyundai Elantra, and put too many miles on the odometer, about 200/day. Now she's back to minimal miles, between 150 and 200 miles per month.



And here is my latest rattle can work of art. A masterpiece of the mundane. Many coats of primer, base and clear; I hope it holds up to the road debris, etc.

 

It's just a baby

 

After months of research and slowly accumulating all my necessary parts, I finally completed my much-needed suspension work on my 2003! This has been a long time in the making as I wanted to be thorough and choose quality parts. At 155k miles, the original shocks and front struts were beyond worn.


I installed the

$500 Hellwig 7700 Solid, Heat Treated Chromoly, 1-1/8" Rear Sway Bar

Hellwig 7700 rear sway bar on the middle setting and Bilstein 5100s in the rear.


I also installed the

$148 Hellwig 991 EZ-990 Helper Spring Kit

Hellwig 991 helper springs to add some strength to my very tired leaf springs. This was an important install as I leveled the front, and didn't want the rear sagging under load.


I installed Bilstein 5100s up front that I scored slightly used from @bajaphile ! He sent them with the TRD coil springs included. I initially kept them on the 3rd setting as I wanted some lift, but his TRD 4x4 V8 springs on my SR5 2WD V6 gave much more lift than anticipated. I took the coilovers to a shop to get set back down to the bottom notch, and this provided the perfect amount of lift.


While I had everything apart, I installed Wheeler's superbumps up front.


Here is the truck after everything was installed. I tried to account for the slope of the street, but the truck is perfectly level. Each corner measures 36.25" (+/- 0.125"). It rides dramatically better, and has a firm, sporty ride quality. I am pretty sure that the old front struts were blown because of how much the new suspension work makes a difference. I feel like I have a renewed fondness for my truck and really enjoy driving it again. Next on the list is new wheels!

 

Yep, still loads of life left in her.

How hard is it to pull the door cards on these? My 4runner; you have to hold your tongue just right to get it in place
