Been thinking of a trailer and trying to find info. I have what I guess is the towing package. Button on the dash with TOW, 7 and 4 pin connectors on the back. No brake control setup though. I was reading how to get the brake set up from Roman and installing.

My dumb question is, just what does the TOW button do without the brake controller? I assume that without the brake controller that there is no auxiliary braking for the trailer? Thanks and sorry to ask something that's been gone over probably a million times.

The Tow/Haul mode adjusts the throttle mapping and shift points to provide better acceleration and shifting (including engine braking) with a load. Hit the button and try it out... it really wakes up the accelerator when you're running empty.

You are correct that electric and EOH trailer brakes won't function without a brake controller. Surge brakes are designed to work without a brake controller but I do not believe you will find those on any travel trailers.

Thank you. I'm heading out in a few and will give it a try. I already had to smoke an f250 at the light yesterday
