Hey everyone, just dropping by to say hi. My wife and I recently sold our house and decided that we are going follow a dream of ours to buy land, build a house and live in a travel trailer during the build process. Neither of our current vehicles (‘04 Limited V8 4R, ‘18 TRDOR Taco) would tow a large enough trailer for us and our toddler daughter to live comfortably in, so we’re adding a 2020 TRDOR SR5 Tundra in MGM to the fleet.

Although I’m a lifelong Toyota driver (5 4R’s, a Corolla and the Taco) I’ve always wanted a diesel truck and seriously considered a new GMC 2500 AT4, but it would have been over $30k more than the Tundra, and the Tundra will get the job done even if it’s not the freshest faced truck in town. We ended up going the route of a lease and that will give me leeway in 3 years to reevaluate if the Tundra is right for me or if I really do want to spring for the Duramax.

We live a few hours away from the dealer so we won’t be picking it up until this coming Saturday, but here’s a pic straight off the delivery truck.

Looking forward to getting into this community!

Love this idea of living in your camper while building. We did that same thing for an add on for 3 months in the middle of winter . That was not a good choice but im sure Idaho it will work out fine. As for the tundra I think I ou will definitely love it !

    Welcome from Indiana !

Yeah... It’s actually probably not going to happen with this rig. We’re having fun building out my wife’s Taco and I typically spend my money on my horribly expensive gun habit. And we gotta build that house. But it’ll get a few things done;)

Thanks! It’s cold as balls here... Up here in the mountains we see below zero a few times a year. Sometimes far below, and sometimes just a few degrees once or twice. Hoping for a mild winter or two!

Hey would you be willing to take a pic of the pass side of your trans? You can do it through the wheel well. The 2019s came without a external trans fluid cooler and we are trying to figure out if the 2020s are the same.

FYI the window sticker says it has “eng/trans fluid coolers.” My 4R has an external trans cooler, I’m expecting it would look like that... I’ll let you guys know.

Thanks. That will help a bunch of us 5.7 2019 w/tow package owners out. On pre 19s engine coolant is brought to the side of the trans to cool the atf and also atf is pushed out to a external cooler. 4 hoses, 2 for coolant and 2 for atf. In 2019s they got ride of the part that runs the atf to an external cooler. So now only 2 hoses, for coolant. Here is how my 2008 tundra cooler looks. So those 2 top lines on my 08 carry atf. That is not present on 19s.
