Bought kit on Amazon for $45.00. Only used half. Taped off chrome area. removed bull bar . Sanded chrome to rough it up. Sprayed two coats of rustoleum flat black paint and primer. Rolled Rhino liner on after mixing two ingredients. Then with rollers in kit. Peace. D

Purchased the third gen skid I found on market place last night and was able to get it installed today. Was surprised to find the cross member under the tranny already has the holes for the skid. IMG_20190915_103441.jpg IMG_20190915_122951.jpg IMG_20190915_122223.jpg

Nice! I did the same thing yesterday. That bugger is kinda heavy, particularly compared to the half sized original one.

I glommed on an airbox from a '19 PRO that I swapped in. I was mildly surprised in the differences. The upper and lower sections of the '19 box were taller and deeper (perspective accentuates this),

    IMG_20190914_155011.jpg
but was narrower than the stock box of my '11 (so I'm glad that the filter was still in the newer one).

    IMG_20190914_160403.jpg

I've noticed zero differences in sound or performance. No CELs, and I imagine that any measured differences would have to be measured on a dyno and they'd be so small that they'd only be compared to zero. There may be some airflow efficiencies in the design change, who knows. Nothing had to be modified. The MAF sensor swapped over and there were two bolts and a hose clamp. The Air Hose and MAF are actually the same part numbers and the newer upper and lower sections are cheaper than my original ones.:notsure:

I'll offer apologies for just the two crummy photos, I was not intending nor interested in doing a write-up.

I flushed my power steering fluid twice today. For good reason. Pump whining when away too. Replaced with Amsoil dexron 3 atf.

Mine still has the original fluid I'm sure. Is that the same Amsoil that's for our transmissions? Because that would be the stuff I have, if I have any....

does it work ? I feel like the cap would rub through it anyways. I just installed a used shell so I'm wondering if it's worth it.

The Tailgate wear is from the rubber gasket on the cap door so it'll work perfect for that. Along the bed sides is mostly from the cap shifting around while on the trail. So only time will tell but I have faith it'll do it's job for at least a few years.

It's pretty tough, even the cheap stuff can stand up for a bit to stones coming off transports at highway speeds right. My thought was it's better than nothing and if I have to change it out.... It was $11 and maybe 45 minutes worth of install time not a huge deal for me.

That being said, you could be right. I will find out over the next 6 months or so. I think it's worth it but I'll keep you updated!
