A Diamondback cover is the only way to go, in my opinion. They are made of diamond plate aluminum and you can have them sprayed with line-x to make them black.

Our most popular seller for the locking bed covers are the Retrax One and the Retrax MX. Only downside to the systems is you lose the first 18 inches of the bed due to canister that it rolls into.

I purchased the gator hybrid. its nice for the money, I read lots of reviews on covers and everyone complained about water leaks, also alot of them have theses stupid drain hoses you have to run. the gator had great reviews and i've had mine about 6 months and I like it, no leaks and no stupid drain hoses. I like the look of the hard covers better just couldn't find a folding one that people liked

I purchased a paragon bed cover for my truck, it works great for my needs because it's lockable, painted to match, and I can take it off in less than a minute when I need the full bed. No affiliation to paragon, just my .02bda61dbf12b23a16b2d2e3c818b29038_5278e28593428e2b9688179b54bffbcbc02cc37b.jpg

I've been looking at Paragon. Did you install it yourself and if so was it easy? Also, have you had any issues with water leaks? Thanks!

I installed it myself and it took me about 1:30. If I was to do it again it could be done in 45-50 min tops. Its not completely water tight...some water gets in there (maybe 4oz total on a 5.5hr trip). One thing I have noticed while driving at highway/freeway speeds is the panels moving and flexing from the air flow (no noise but I can see them flexing from my rear view). It took a week or so to get used to it and now I don't even pay attention to it.

Thanks! I really like the looks of yours. That's hardly any water and that's what I was most concerned about. The flexing I'm good with. My old vinyl tonneau flapped like crazy at highway speeds.

I had a Paragon for many years on my Chevy and it worked well. Wasn't water prof by any means. I would recommend them especially being a couple hundred bucks cheaper than other brands. When it was new it was a pain in the ass to open! You needed two people to push the panels down together and having a lift just complicated things. I'm saving my birthday money for diamond back.

I run the Bakflip G2. Haven't noticed any flapping on the highway. I wouldnt say it's water tight but very little gets in. I added weather stripping on the vertical openings around the tailgate. No cover will prevent leaks there. Works fine with the factory bed rail system.

Pudge; What would you like to know? Yesterday had my truck washed, so one question I had was how much water gets inside, well I was impressed with the seals around the top of the cover and lack of water that was on the inside when I checked. I also love the fact that I can open/drop the tailgate with the cover still closed and that my truck key is all I need to lock it, if the tailgate is locked then the system is locked as well. Is there any other questions you have have just let me know.

How was the installation ? I know the side bed rails need to be lowered with the kit they provide. does the front bed rail by the cab also need to be lowered? My truck came with a drop in bed liner so this may be an issue.
Do you notice any noise or flapping on the highway at all?
    Thanks man

I really can't say much about the installation issues since it was free as part of my "military discount" from "Leonards" I do know that it took about one hour to complete from start to finish. However I can say that there are No noise issues that I have heard with my truck.

Is there such a thing as a lockable, as waterproof as possible, easy to remove when you need to - bed cover?

Most hard tonneau covers are lockable.

The only type of tonneau that comes close to waterproof are the ones that comes on top of the bed rail, like hard top fiberglass tonneau cover. The problem is that they are pain to take off and put on.

I have BAKFlip F1 and they are as sturdy as they come. They are not water proof and the problem with drain-hose design is that the water that comes under the cover freezes during the winter. Basically, I've given up trying to use my bed during the freezing season. To be fair, other tonneau would be problematic as well (the doors to the cab also freeze as well during winter though not as badly). Functionally, I would think something like a bed cap will be more usable, especially during winter.

CJ21; I purchased the G2 Bakflip. I have it for approx 2 years. Took me 15 minutes to remove and 20 to re-install when i went from my old Tundra to my new one. I did need to drop the side rails when i installed. I did not however need to realign the rail by the cab. It doesn't flap when driving at high speeds, there is a minimum amount of water that enters the bed when raining (nothing to get upset over). I went with the aluminum version as opposed to the fiber glass version because over time I imagined the fiberglass taking a beating and starting to come apart. I fell in love with the low profile design and the fact i was able to remove and re-install all by myself. Oh yeah, it is secure when closed and the tailgate is locked. Hope this helps a little bit.
