I have a 2017 tundra non jbl with Dasaita head unit, and want to change out the speakers and add a 4 channel amp . How do i go about installing the amp? Do i use the line-out coax of the head unit and run that to the input of the amp, and on the speaker output side of the amp, splice it into the tundra harness under the passenger seat?

I had them install both the 4 channel and sub amp under the passenger seat.

I was thinking of doing the same thing and yes .. that is the route I plan on taking as well. You can tap into the wire harness connections as shown below if you don't want to run new wires through the doors. Let me know if you find another way.

Finally found some time today to install the speakers. I went with the following components
    Kicker 11HS8 https://www.crutchfield.com/S-5AWZgCVW6cH/p_20611HS8/Kicker-11HS8.html
Focal ISS 165 for front https://www.crutchfield.com/p_091ISS165/Focal-Integration-ISS-165.html
Focal RSE 130 for rear https://www.crutchfield.com/p_091RSE130/Focal-RSE-130.html
Kicker 46csc354 for dash corners https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CC354/Kicker-46CSC354.html

I disconnected the center channel because i didn't want to deal with the dual coil speaker. I had every intention of upgrading the amp after the speakers install, but now i don't think i will. Between the Dasaita head unit putting out more juice and the new speakers, it sounded really really really good. I think it has enough power to drive those speakers, given that they're pretty sensitive. I was actually impressed. The clarity of the highs is there now, mids sounds very nice, and extra bass from the kicker powered sub to fills in the low ends, i think it's enough for me to not have to install the aftermarket amp. What makes the biggest difference was the corner dash speakers, if i were to do it over, i would get better dash speakers (didn't want to spend the money on dash corners b/c i thought ehhh they're just corner speakers). Definitely go with component speakers if you're going to go through all the trouble installing new speakers.

What was wrong with the dash speakers you purchased? Are you hearing it's limitations?

Nothing wrong with the dash speakers I purchased, but I didn’t know the dash speakers played a more important role than I thought, hence I would spend a little more on it

I like the sub you installed. Do you have pics of the location where you placed it? Thanks in advance.

I put it under the driver seat, and tapped in the wiring harness under the passenger side

@lighthouze08 I took your lead and installed the kickers 3.5" in the corners of my dash. It sounds amazing like you said. totally opened up the sound stage. BTW how did you mount them. They are obviously so much bigger thicker than the stock. I ended up dremeling the cover plate to reduce the vertical fins on the underside and then snapped them in. I didnt even anchor them with screws because the fit was so snug. LOL.

I mounted them using just one screw lol. It’s not going anywhere. You can also install a bass blocker to filter out the lower frequency to those speakers and an2 ohm resistor if you find them too loud

Cool thanks for the info. I'll take your lead and install the bass blocker. Any particular brand you recommend? Thanks for all the info.

How do the dash speakers install? In the previous tweeter location? And how are they wired into the system. You have component speakers for the front with the dash speakers as well?

Correct, they are installed in the tweeter location. They are powered by the head unit. I also have component speakers for the front with tweeters installed in the sail panels

For your rear component speakers did you use the crossovers that came with the speakers or did you just replace the speakers and tweeters in the door? I'm wanting to change my rear door speakers as well. But was wondering if you actually need to use the supplied crossover since Toyota uses some sort of strange wiring already. I know this as I just replaced my front door speaker and removed the dash speakers. But to get the tweeters working in the front door I had to run separate speaker wire from the back of the dasaita unit to the speaker wires on the harness in the kick panel by the door. I originally tried the factory plugs but some sort of crossover was in place as only mids were getting through the factory harness.

I didn’t run into that problem because I ended up replacing the factory amp with an aftermarket jbl amp. I used the speakers crossover and not the factory crossover and placed the tweeters in the sail panels for the fronts.
