I got a very similar setup. It bangs!

Ordered! Should have found this earlier...right when its about to cool down in AZ.

 

For those who got the optional extended range FOBs...where did you mount the receiver? I just zip-tied it to the Fortin module, but I'm finding the range sucks (even when in direct line-of-sight). Not much farther than OEM FOB it seems.

I'm going to mount it under the driver-side pillar (where the grab handle is....if you did that mod) and see if that helps.

Anyone finding the range close to advertised range? Where'd you mount the receiver?

 

Think it needs to be mounted up by the A Pilar at the top of the windshield so it can get a better line of communication.

 

My truck is 2015. I don't have an alarm or glass break sensor. I installed the remote start which works great with the exception of panic alarm triggering if I turn the car off remotely. I read here that some of the 2018/2019 owners had a fix for that, but I can't find what the solution was for 2015 models. Any suggestions?

 

Connect the white wire off the module to the white and black wire on your ECM IIRC and that won’t cause your alarm to sound. It will also trigger your alarm if you start it and leave it idling longer than 15 mins so it may be worth it to take 20 mins and connect that wire.

 

This is where I get confused. Which white wire on the module?

Left side of diagram you'll see a yellow box that says "Vehicle equipped with factory alarm." Follow that diagram for your 2016 Tundra. It says to connect the white/black wire (#19 from the Fortin module's 20-pin connector) to the black wire (#2 black in the plug) on your truck. That plug on your truck is highlighted with the red number 5 in the picture...it's right below where one of the T-harnesses hooks up to your truck. Pic of page 3 from the instructions:

 

Here is how the alarm activation after turning the engine off remotely was solved after I spoke to James:

In 2015 Tundra, with no factory alarm installed, I connected the white with black stripe wire from the remote module to the grey wire connected to a small 2-pin plug with two wires in it located by the key cylinder. This is the plug with only two wires: 1 wire is white with black stripe and 1 wire is grey. The thicker white with black wire is attached to the module with several other wires. The end of the white/black wire from the module needs to be striped. The coating on the grey wire needs to be stripped just enough to poke hole through and wrap the end of white/black wire around it. The white/black wire needs to be spliced into the grey wire. Both wires get taped up when done.

Be very careful stripping the coating off the grey wire because the copper wires underneath are hair thin.

The module works as designed now: Using the factory remote, 3 presses of lock button start the truck and 3 presses of lock button turn the truck off. No panic alarm activation when turning the engine off with the key fob and no alarm activation if idling for over 15 minutes.

That wire tones out to the key sense wire on the ECU pin 2 (black wire) in the instructions.

I found it way easier to use the wire from the ECU rather than the wire Next to the ignition key that James was talking about.

 

Just tried the “fix” and it didn’t work. Truck still won’t relock

 

Update: added this to my things to do. Alarm sets off if I 3 press to turn off the truck.

Do I have to do this on my 2014? I never tried to turn it off with the 3 press or let it run the full 15 minutes. (Gonna try it when I get home and I guess it'll tell me if I need to do this)

 

Seems super simple. I'll attack this tomorrow.

 

Don't mine my dumb question.... Just splice into it or unpin and insert the wire? Either should work right

 

I spliced the black/white wire into the grey wire. I don't know if the grey wire can pushed out with a pin or something thin.

After sitting on the starter for close to a month, finally got it installed on my 17. Straight up install, no extras for me. Works perfectly.

Looking forward to a warm truck this winter

 

Spliced right into the black wire on connector 5 like the directions said. No more alarm when I turn the truck off via remote or waiting the 15 minutes. Thanks for the kick ass kit @james@tech12volts

 

Loving mine so far. Having an issue that I don’t think is associated with the remote start but figured I better ask here anyway just in case seeing as I just now noticed this issue a couple weeks after the install. Probably just a coincidence but my back passenger door is completely dead. Doesn’t lock or unlock with the rest of them, have to manually do it from the inside. Anyone else have this issue? Pretty sure it has nothing to do with the remote start and it’s just the internal mechanism gone bad but want to make sure.

 

Sounds like the lock actuator went out tundra r known for it

 

As stated, most likely the door lock actuator has failed and just a coincidence with timing.

 

Update after tapping the white and black wire into black wire on connector 5

1. Remote lock 3 press start and remote lock 3 press off. Doesn't set alarm.
2. CL6 app start and CL6 app off. Sets alarm off (not a big deal but just noting it)
3. CL6 app start and remote lock 3 press off. Doesn't set alarm off.

The odds I will let it run past 15 minutes or need to cut it off are slim but it's nice having the option. Still highly recommend this kit to everyone looking for remote start.

 

Weird that the CL6 will set off the alarm when turning off the truck, but not the remote. I had this issue with the CL6 setting it off also when using it to turn off the truck, but connecting the White/Black key sense wire from the EVO to the Black wire on the ECU fixed that.

 

I am sure I did that. I will double check and test tomorrow. Might have just been user error. Remote on and off works flawlessly and the CL6 on and off is flawless. Mixing the two she no likey

I was tinkering on my truck this evening (detailed engine bay and cleaned leaf's out of my finder area behind the rubber when you have the door open. Drivers was horrible but passenger side was clean) and did 3 tests. Didn't mess with it aside from the 3 tests.

 

Ok, maybe I didn't catch that....so it starts/stops correctly with the remote or with the CL6, you just can't mix them (start with CL6 / stop with remote). I'll have to try that on mine and see if it sets it off. I never thought about mixing them when I tested mine.

 

It works like a champ if I start and stop with either the remote or CL6. I was curious about mixing so I tried remote started and CL6 off, bam no likey. As I said definitely not a big deal, I just wanted to make note of it

 

I'm a tech junky so I enjoy testing new stuff I install

 

Ahhh maybe I should have read through this a little more. Placed an order Friday evening since the link still worked figured the group buy was still going.
