So I have been pondering adding a sunroof to the truck. Is this an easy drop in or will there need to be changes to the interior lights and cubby system in the roof liner. Not sure if the sunroof trucks have all the same stuff as the non sunroof rigs. Any sunroof guys here with input?

Probably more trouble than worth. I've also heard they those who add it in after the truck is built have had issues with leaks.

Well. the overhead console is different, so you'd have to replace that. Dunno if the sunroof switch is pre-wired so you may have to run some wires. If not prewired, its doubtful the power supplied to your dome lights would be sufficient to drive the sunroof motors.

like @Sean266 said I have considered it in the past and been told that most sunroofs installed afterwards end up leaking

yep bank account is running low from it..
Not worth it... only company I'm aware of I believe they still are making it is ROCKWELL.. yes the people who made the space shuttle. They use to have a lifetime warranty on the sunroof including motor cables and leaks..

Only advantage of having a sunroof is it strengthens the roof more that's it..

a sunroof to a vehicle is about as invasive a process as i can think of. i really like mine but there too many things to go wrong and adding one wouldn't even be a consideration.
sounds like op is in the market for a 1794 or a platinum.

Limited also has the sunroof option. Hell, I saw a 2012 CM TRD RW edition with one the other year.

Back in the 80s everyone was cutting T tops in, never saw one that didn't leak. Trade up.

I honestly can’t grasp why anyone would want to do this. I’ve had sun roofs on three vehicles and never used them at all.

Please do not do this. If it’s not done at the factory, it’s a guaranteed horror show.

If it’s a must-have feature for you, trade in the vehicle.

I used mine quite a bit. Usually at night. Even when it wasn't open I liked the additional light in the cab. Had one my last Tundra but skipped it on this one. I wouldn't add one since all I have ever heard is they leak, but I'll probably make sure my next one has a sunroof.

I was about to say maybe it’s too hot to use one here, but you’re in Texas also.

We have two in the Venza, keep both closed, it's hot enough as it is.

I love the sunroof in my truck. I would never add one aftermarket though. That's a recipe for trouble.

Nothing like switching the truck to convertible mode on a nice day; sunroof open, all 4 side windows and the rear window down with the tunes cranked.
