does higher octane gas have any advantages on an engine designed for Flex Fuel?

doesn't really change anything. Our Flex Fuel engines just have a few less corrosive components that are better suited to handle the extremely corrosive ethanol if you were to put in E15. I run 87 sometimes and mostly ethanol free 87 just for fun.

I usually run 89 as well. The gas station I go to has no ethanol 89. Corn is for feeding critters, not trucks.

Here’s an analysis I did based on fuel prices from a while back...

    26 gallons x $.40/gallon E-85 savings = $10.40 total savings per fillup using E-85
Loss of 2 MPG x 26 gallons = 52 miles lost per tank using E-85
52 miles divided by 13 MPG = 4 gallons lost per tank using E-85
    4 gallons x AAA average Texas cost of regular $2.52/gallon = $10.08

If my math is right, if I were you, I'd stick with 86/87 octane...less wear and tear on your fuel system, even though it is designed to run E-85 (i.e. Flex Fuel). I have Flex Fuel as well, and it's cheaper per gallon, but not cheaper per tank.

very true. I live at 4600-5000 ft elevation, and everything is a hill lol. You dont really ever expect to do 0-60 that fast, but when you put in 91 you feel it instantly. Better mpg with ethanol free though.

Why does toyota recommend oil change every 5k on flex engines? 10k for regular gasoline.

3” lift, black step bars, aftermarket wheels, LT305/55R20 was this way when I brought it.
I use the 87 octane most of the time and about every 3-4 tanks I will use super

No, the engine is every 5K unless using flex fuel, then it's every 2.5K. The non flex fuel engine says up to 10K miles. For some reason the particular code of engine for flex fuel build is 5K max interval.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
87 octane. I've ran 93 once and I think I could tell a difference but not worth doing it every fill up. NO E-85.
