    Well....

Not a complete success. But I have only smoked 3 cigarettes since I started this thread. I haven't smoked one since yesterday morning. I'm confident I'll kick this.

One of the hardest parts of quitting is figuring out what to do with your hands. Much of the addiction is psychological and if you replace the psychological part with something else, quitting becomes easier. Try pen twirling.

I quit by vaping for a month and reduced the nicotine (I had my wife switch to lower juice without me knowing about it)

After 30 days she told me I dont have any nicotine in my juice and havent in three days.

I set it down and never looked back.

This is good advice. My dad used to dip when I was little, and after realizing just how disgusting it was, he quit. He said the only way he could curb the urge was to chew on something, so he started chewing on tooth picks or straws. He hasn't dipped in 25 years or so, and he doesn't need to chew on anything anymore.

You can do it!! The first day of the rest of your life!!
My dad quit cold turkey in his 50’s after docs told him his asthma was returning. I think his stopping helped him live longer had he not stopped!

Great decision, as you can see by all the comments you won't regret it. You never hear anyone say they wished they didn't quit right !?! Plus you can put the massive pile of cash you are gonna save aside for mods and use that for motivation! I quit about 25 years ago when I had bronchitis for 2 weeks...when I recovered I thought why go back, the hard part is over. I also cut down on drinking for while as well because for me those two things went hand and hand.
I also knew someone that struggled while quitting and what he did is put a thick rubber band on his wrist and whenever he was having the urge he'd pull it back about 8 inches and let it rip, it worked for him. I think I'd go with the patch it if really gets tough, best of luck!!

The hardest time I've had so far, is at work. When it gets slow at night sometimes, it gets boring as hell. Thanks for all the encouragement. I'll get through this.

Those are the times you can start making that long list of mods for the Tundra, could be a wish list of sorts.
All that money you'd be saving from not buying smokes, gotta put it to good use

I am a food addict. Part of overcoming is just controlling the ACT of eating. Chew slow and savor the flavor, which before it was always nom nom nom, want it all now!

This Nov. will be 8 years for me.
I did it using e-cigs. It worked so well for me I opened an e-cig store. Still using the e-cig.

Quit 12 years ago on Halloween! Craziest 2 weeks of my life...had big time withdraw but got thru it. Stop drinking for 6 months to make sure I didn’t have something that would lure me back. Your body will feel the difference once you quit and it’s one of the best decisions I made. (Really had no choice, wife gave me a ultimatum) good luck

Proud of you @easleycrawler . The thing is.... YOU have to be ready. If not, you're just fooling yourself. Sound's like you're ready:muscleflexing:. You got this!!!! Your mind is a powerful witness to survival/denial. I was nagged for around 20 years and stopped when I was ready. I had to be ready. Nothing and nobody could make me stop until I was ready.

So this thread encouraged me to give it another shot at quitting. Wednesday I was down to one cigarette. Decided not to buy another pack. I lit that cigarette twice on Wednesday and finished it Thursday morning. Have not gone and bought another pack. And have not had another cigarette. I’m feeling pretty good man. I can’t say I won’t smoke another if one is around me and I have a beer in my hand. But I’m definitely not going back to being a regular smoker! This is the first time I’ve actually enjoyed not smoking and looking forward to being healthier. Plus it is going to save me 30 to 40 bucks a week. I am supplementing my nicotine habit with ZYN nicotine pouches. No tobacco.

I’m actually excited about not being a smoker. Since I’m out on Workmen’s Comp. it was a good time to quit. I used to quit over a weekend and then be back at it Monday morning because of work. It’s good to get this out of my system before going back to work, hopefully my habit is diminished and I will have less of that strong desire to put a cigarette in my mouth. The key for me has been staying busy with something. Whether I’m in the garage tinkering with my truck or even just surfing Tundras.Com.

You motivated me Travis! Thanks bro

This is the conclusion I came to. Even my father-in-law told my wife that, he will quit when he’s ready. He’s a smart man. Finally I think I just had enough. It was getting hard to breathe, I was having shortness of breath fairly easily. Now I just gotta watch my weight.

Yeah, I think I just got disgusted with myself that something could have that big of a hold on me. I definitely pride myself on being my own person and having common sense with most aspects in my life. (Other than being addicted to mods) Every time I would light up a cigarette lately it just didn’t feel right anymore. And very recently the shortness of breath. Fuck that! I’d like to be around a while.
