MORIMOTO XB LED HEADLIGHTS 16+

How did you position the pins on your factory harness? Does your factory wiring harness have 2 or 3 wires for the turn signal connection? Mine is a 2 wire (DS black for signal & black & white ground with Purple for signal & BW ground on PS). I believe they need to be matched up with the wires on the sequential harness (yellow signal & black ground). Then I should just make sure the "hard" signal wires (orange & purple) are unplugged. The 2019 no longer uses a flasher relay. It is now part of the instrument cluster so I'm also not sure if a load resister is required yet. I do have aftermarket LED tails but I believe they already had a "no fault" resister installed on them. TRS said they will throw a "headlight malfunction" error on my model until a new harness is built.

 

I've had to use it. It is the adapter that converts the headlight from a 3 wire signal to a 2 wire signal. I am only sending a 2 wire signal so I just have to line my factory pins up with the harness pins.

 

Someone wanted to see mine since I have no issues. Can’t find it to quote but here it is. No tab alignment issues. I don’t have fancy drl mine are halogen so no problems or error codes.

 

They look terrific! Nice work on the modifications! You have any with them turned on? Do you have the sequential markers as previously suggested? er...can we see them caught on camera?

Well so far it’s been rained on and whatnot and I didn’t have bent tabs. I don’t have any of the problems of water. I live at 6k feet altitude. Maybe that has something to do with it? Not sure but so far so good. I didn’t even install the Toyota flasher. I just de pinned the halogen drl pin off my stock flasher.

Keeping y’all posted. Drove through very very heavy ran and small hail last night. No water intrusion at all. No fogging. Not even dampness in the housings. Apparently I got one of the 50 pre release ones so good news for those waiting to order!

Had to update pics. My camera was foggy with finger prints. Lol

I just seems opposite that retrofit headlights require a special additional cost harness for vehicles that come from the factory with LED headlights and LED DRL’s but all other vehicle that did not come with LED’s from the factory are good without

Thy give you the harness. They are trying to solve the issue that factory puts in their programming to keep ya from doing what we do. I didn’t have to use the harness

 

Also there are a lot more non led trucks out there so it only makes sense.

Didn’t you upgrade to factory LED headlights and now to these? Your truck originally had Halogen?

 

I never had the oem led upgrade. I almost got them but waited for these. Yes I originally had the halogen (turn signal drl).The cutoff on these is so nice to have. I’ve had hid’s On the truck and I very much enjoy having the xb’s installed vs the hid’s. The hid kit I had was the Morimoto 55w kit also (info for comparison)

 

What do y’all think about the new alpharex nova series coming out?

 

Alphas are known for their inability to produce light output and are generally a downgrade. The rex might be worth looking into because you could put an hid in the projector. However they are running their crappy led for a high beam. I haven’t hear a lot on the alpharex. But their rep will prob have slow movement of this product which will lead to less reviews. At that price point I would prob just roll with spyder headlights. A lot of people like those from what I heard. But just my opinion, is prob do oem led vs the alpharex. I really want to do a comparison with someone with oem led if anyone is in Colorado Springs aera? Or even Denver could work.

 

Yes the novas are like 980 bucks comes with low beam led 4 cubes

 

Here it is uses Osram Oslon Black Flat LED chips 2 year warranty right now it’s 20% off till Sunday. I know nothing about what chips are good or not

 

Seems like a nice cutoff they do have s cool start up sequence that u can see on YouTube. Wonder if this series could be competitive with the xbs? I just love the blinker set up with the xbs!

 

Looks way better than Alphaowls.... neighbor has the Alpharex pros with the single projector and even those light better than alphaowls

 

Maybe these novas and the Morimotos will be the 2 top dogs, guess time will tell
