Any one still do slot car race tracks? I remember when I was small I had a set and enjoyed it. Wanting to get my kids a set but trying to get some input and what not.

I was into slot car racing big time as kid back in the early to mid 60's! I still have some ribbons but cars long gone. My favorite was an open wheeled Lotus. The good old days. Not sure what's available today. Watching this thread though....

Yea tons of fun for sure. I did it in the 90s but now that I have 3 boys of my own I figured why not give it a shot. My only concerns is I don’t wanna buy super cheap but obviously don’t want to spend a lot since I’m not sure if they going to like it or not

Look for the sets with the most hop-up parts. If you can find a used Tyco Magnum 440-x2 track in good shape, get it. It's one of the good ones. Don't get one with plain 440 power packs, the hotter cars will burn it up. Some hobby shops still have tracks, parts, and cars. Believe me, you'll need parts. If you can't repair the car, it's not worth buying. Get a good set, it's worth the extra money.

    Here's an unopened collectors set.

Here's what's left of my "Racing Stable". Some are heavily modified, some are stock. Different cars were used for different classes when my daughter and I raced at a local hobby shop.

    Here's a collectible from the 60's.

I used to use that same racing oil. Dang!. My slot cars were a larger scale back then, maybe 5" to 6". I carried two cars, oil, extra tires, electric motors, and spare brushes in an old cigar box. The last time I did slot cars was in the Boy Scouts in the early 70's. Our troop saved up and bought an old decent slot car track that used to be in a slot car racing store in Eugene, Orygun. We used the track to raise money for our 50 mile back pack trek every summer. Good old days.

I need to read slower. Thought the thread was about slut cars.

    Never mind and carry on.

    Lost track after #1.
I thought this sounded more fun at first, but then I realized the prize for winning might be an STD.

Let's get this back on track. I want to spend $$ on slot cars again now. My grandson needs to experience this. Keep this going!

Luigi is totally legit. He is by far the best tactician of the two brothers. I don’t know too much about the dinosaur rider.
