Looks very clean. The timing belt was done recently which is a plus. Be sure to look under the drop in bedliner and check the frame thoroughly for rust. Good luck!

I'd buy it for that price as long as the frame isn't rusted to shit.

It's in average condition. Timing belt replaced as mentioned. Any reasonable guess on how many more miles I can get with this truck? Any big maintenance items that would be standard in the 150-180K mile range?

    Thanks for your help.

Many people on this forum are well over 300k. Some have reported 500k+. 140k is nothing but I would expect you'll be due for a suspension redo soon. Ball joints, tie rods, coilovers, etc.

A friend of mine bought one with 300K about a year ago. It needed a starter and the owners didn't want to pay near a grand for the labor. She drives it every day.
These Tundras will literally go forever.

Just an update on this thread...
I decided not to purchase the first vehicle -- many cosmetic issues that were not apparent in the posting pictures.
The second vehicle sold pretty quickly.

I've now turned my sight to a 1-owner 06 Tundra near me...
my concern is the mileage -- 213K (asking 9.5K).
Aside from timing belt and rust... any other things I should consider?
And what do you guys think of the posting and price?

You should check the u joints, center bearing, lower ball joints, steering rack and bushings also timing belt and look at the door check area on the drivers side door, I just had mine repaired due to metal cracking.
Might be a good idea to take a scanning tool and check to see if there are any codes.

I don’t think he’s necessarily worried about the mileage on the truck, but he’s trying to factor in possible maintenance that would be necessary soon after due to the mileage.

That one looks nice. Carfax says it was involved in 2 very minor rear end collisions. That wouldn't stop me from buying it. The transmission was serviced at least twice. No mention of timing belt or diff fluids ever being done but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Without more records it's hard to say what has/hasn't been done. I'm going to guess like I always do, that a complete suspension overhaul may be needed. Ball joints, tie rods, coilovers, rear shocks etc.

He stated "my concern is the mileage". @bmf4069 then attempted to ease his concerns. Seems pretty clear he IS worried about the mileage.

I think once you get over 100k mileage or 5 years maintenance becomes an issue on anything. Wear parts, rubber stuff, typical things of that nature.

Hell, milage isn't the only factor.
I just bought a 97 Camry with 96K miles on it and a bunch of the coolant lines and heater hoses were leaking very severely.

That seems like a decent deal to me....Certified 1 owner, bought and lived in a state that doesn't get much snow so should not salt the roads alot, 4wd, LSD, some service records, Sunroof (I normally don't like sunroofs, but on these trucks will all windows down, including the rear, and the sunroof open it's damn near convertible like...I miss my 2005's sunroof). It looks like it had the expensive air injection system replaced right before it was sold..., Go see it in person and if it drives straight (accelerating, cruising and braking), shifts smooth and passes the underbody rust check, I'd offer them $8000 and go from there...

I jumped on my truck because the wife said get something cheap and it had all the things on the need list. 05-06 double cab, under 150k, not black, decent shape, no major issues, receipts for timing belt, etc. I had been looking for about a month with little luck. I'd hold out until you find the one that has all your needs and hopefully some of your wants.

Just wanted to update this thread.

    Purchased an 05 Double Cab SR5 for ~ $10K.
159k, two owners, very well maintained.
Getting the timing belt done today.
    Will need new wheels/tires soon.
Took off running boards and bed rails.
It runs beautifully; I love it...

That's great. To me the 1st gen Tundra's are worth the time it takes to get the right one.

    Looks it.

Enjoy it. I had one and loved it. My dad has one from 06 and is closing in on 3 or 400k. I can’t keep up.
