    As far as standard OEM rear shocks go and for mostly street use, Which brand would you buy??

    Bilstein 5100, OME 60100, Fox or Toytec Boss non resi for street and lighter off-road use.
    OME 90018, Bilstein 5160, Toytec Boss with Resi, Icon or King for street and heavier off-road use.

    I've run both on several vehicles. Fox gets my vote, put them both beside each other let your eyes choose, rebuildable, and no plated steel body guaranteed to look like poo in no time. As far as ride quality, my 5160's(remote-resi) feel about the same vs. Fox non-resi 2.0, 2.0 reservoirs were noticeably better.

    Found 2 NIB FOX 2.0 Rears on CL, $160 for both. Put them on today. Will drive tomorrow. Have air bags on the back at 35 psi. Old shocks let it bounce alot. Hopeing the FOX Rears will help control it.

    Do you have a load in the bed or something? Just wondering on the pressure you are running in the air bags.

    It should. The Bilstein 5160s I had on my truck worked great for that.

    I also did not run much more than 5 psi in my bags when empty though. If I did, the bounce you describe is just horrible.

    The FOX 2.0's did the trick. No more unloaded bounce with 35 psi. in air bags. Plus they raised the bed some. Now I'll have to do something in the front.

    Why do you think Fox or Bilstein shocks won't fit on my truck?

    FOX says 0-1" lift with the 2.0 shocks. mine unloaded is at least 1" taller.

    hmmm... and when i read that i assume it means that the shocks will function fine with up to a 1" lift in the rear. interesting that you got height out of it.

    I got Fox 2.0 shocks about six months ago and noticed a difference in rear height. I didn't measure it, but the Fox shocks definitely pushed the truck up a bit. Way better than the stupid Bilstein 4600s.

    They compress with weight so unless they are really stiff they really shouldn't provide lift. The bed is light so maybe it settles a little higher than worn out shocks.

    I would leave them off. They collect moisture and dirt inside and corrode. If you want to protect the shaft, I just cut up the factory TRD boot (blue) and zip tied it on the side that would take the rock hits (drivers side).

    They do lift the rear a little bit.

    Fox has rock guards for them, not a boot, they are nice.

    The FOX rear shocks have the shaft going down. So the boot is open on the bottom and won't hold water...

    They still hold moisture and a lot of dirt, which in turn wipes out the dust seal.

    If you have to get something, a coilover dust cover are nice or a rock protector.
