How do I know I have a bad shock?

    My rear passenger side sets lower than my driver side back. It’s about 1.5 inch different. I have 6 in RC with RC shocks. Any help please!! Thanks in advance

    What i would do,

    Make sure both front tires are same psi. Do the same in the rear.

    Then measure all 4 fender heights. Maybe the driver front is too high? Get all your measurements then you’ll be able to trace the issue. How is the rear lifted? The shock is not the issue

    Shocks won’t affect the ride height when they go bad.If they do it would be minimal. An inch and a half difference is huge. How long has it been doing it? Did you just recently have the lift installed

    Just noticed it as I was washing my truck. I have about 6000 miles on the lift.

    I had the same thing on the passenger side because of my leaf springs. I put a shim on top of the driver coilover and it balanced everything out.

    He’s having the opposite. His passenger side is an inch and a half low in the back. Putting a shim on the drivers front would make that worse. It’s possible he could need a shim on the passenger side.

    Op. Make sure you checking all these measurements on level ground. Try moving your truck and see if the measurement changes. Definitely check for discrepancies in the front because that can affect the way the rear height sits.

    It’s normal for the rear drivers to be lower due to gas tank. Not sure because your issue is passenger side is lower.... I haven't owned a tundra so I’m unaware of most nuances, just thinking about issues known with Tacoma lifts.

    I replaced my rear shackles with some coachbuilders and some polyurethane bushings. After inspecting the old shackles and bushing set up, there are serrations on the bushing that bind with the rear shackle. Like little teeth on both that make the shackle not articulate. It wouldn’t be impossible for those to be bound in a lower position. Very shitty design Imo.

    This is really bizarre. Is it possible that the shackle is dramatically tighter on the driver side and thus doesnt flex back the same?

    Can you jack up the rear by the hitch and see if it settles down the same way?

    Not worn out but maybe they were tightened down while the truck wasn’t level. Just throwing it out there man. Your scenario sounds pretty odd and I’m just trying to brainstorm here LOL

    As long as everything is tight you should be safe to drive it. An alignment won’t cause something as dramatic as this. And like you said the front is measuring out perfectly.
